@swazzle - Honestly, I'm not sure if I've developed a favorite yet this season which is weird. H gets a kick out of the former basketball player because he recognized him. He showed me pictures of some of his craziest looks from the NBA. I mean, really, WTF is that about???

@beachyone15 Ughhh that sucks!! I figured when you were saying you had never developed allergies before that your body was still adjusting to the environment!  I don't have strong seasonal allergies (basically some minor in the spring and almost none in the fall) so maybe this is just a particularly bad season?

I asked BF on a date last night to get some wings, my treat, because I was craving and we hadn't seen each other in a week, and I figured it'd be good to sit face to face. When I got home to change before picking him up there were flowers at my door, no note, and my first thought was "Someone from NEY sent these early!" Then it crossed my mind it could've been BF or anyone else. I mentioned them and BF claimed them, and I completely thought he was kidding. Eventually I decided to believe him because he was convincing enough. They're really pretty!



Then we argued the first half of our date, over texting. I basically concluded we need to quit relying on text to communicate, to cut back on it in general, and when I'm on the road we can talk on the phone at night. He didn't like the idea of texting less in general, but that's one thing I wouldn't budge on. Funny pictures, asking a quick "how are you?," fine, but holding a convo all day long is really just stupid the more I think about it. It's a new thing anyway, I didn't have text messaging at all until the end of college! I still don't understand what he was so upset about, unless he's not being fully honest with me over what's bugging him, I asked a ton of questions last night to try to understand and still just don't get it, it's not adding up. 

But we are good now (I think). We both said it's good we talked it out. I said I'd ask more questions while on trips, and I asked him to be more open. I just hope this isn't a facade for something bigger.

What's for lunch/dinner? Leftover boneless wings and onion rings for dinner.

@wink0erin Those flowers are gorgeous! TBH, the progression of my relationship with H went from texting ALL the time, like hundreds of messages a day I'm sure, to we rarely text each other during the day (if we do it's a "I'm here" when I'm picking him up from work) or we'll text a silly link or something. I think having a phone conversation every evening is even better since it means you get to have a REAL conversation. I like your plan and I hope your BF becomes more ok with it too.

What's for lunch/dinner?: Quinoa and veggies for lunch.. I'm not sure what's for dinner! Maybe chicken with spinach and mozz.

@wink0erin In our 6.5 years together, BF and I have never communicated via text. We only text when confirming plans, or if either of us are traveling to let one another know we arrived safely. When we were long distance our first summer together, we didn't text but we had a nightly phone date. When he DOES text me randomly, I am usually suspicious that he's cancelling or changing plans and when I text him randomly I never expect a response. Monday we didn't see each other and also didn't hear from one another at all, but yesterday we had a lot to recap

I like it. We always have something to talk about when we are together, and we both focus more on our actual responsibilities when we are not. Though, I did think it was weird at first, coming off high school relationships when we would text CONSTANTLY. How stressful is it to have to worry about the other person getting mad that there wasn't an instant response?? Not worth it to me.

@labro - It could just be a bad season I guess. I've heard people say (including my H) that they never used to have allergy problems living in TX, but developed them later in life. So I might be one of those people, unfortunately.

H and I text throughout the day, everyday. We ask each other how the day is going, what's for lunch, what should we do for dinner if we hadn't already planned it, anything random that happens throughout the day, if we need to complain about work, if we saw something funny online. 

We 1) aren't in a high school relationship, 2) still do our grown up jobs perfectly fine, 3) still have full conversations in person every single night when we get home. 

There are kind of a lot of assumptions being made about people's relationship and texting. Just wanted to remind everyone that we're all different as individuals and as couples.

Since it's free I'll choose tropical. Those tend to get expensive.

Re texting...H and I don't text other than when one of us is in a meeting, has only 2 minutes to talk or needs to remind the other of something quickly...or, you know, we want to get a point/picture across we can't put in a work email.

Re texting for us.. We don't talk much during the day. We will text with quick questions, or if we see something the other might want to see (most recently he texted me the new Civil War trailer.) We will sometimes call if we want a quicker answer.

Thing is, I sit at a desk at work, but BF drives an 18-wheeler. Most of the time he can't text back so it's pointless. If it's important enough then I will call or text, but usually it's nothing that can't wait either until I call him when I leave work, or when he gets home. 

As for being away, I always make it a point to call BF and check in on him and Tess. I have been away a few times, and Disney to boot, and I always make time to call a few times a day to check in. The most important point being that this is what works for US. He understands that I am busy but he doesn't want me to forget about him. That doesn't work for everyone, but it's how we've mutually agreed that it works for us.

Agree with @minskat30 ... H and I don't text much but if we need to remind one another about picking something up or something hilarious happens that we need to tell one another about, we text. But, like @Swazzle said just because we don't text constantly all day doesn't mean everyone shouldn't - I think whatever works for the couple, works for the couple. When we were in college/didn't live together we texted so much more... Now we just wait and recap at the end of the day.

I used to text my BF all day every day. Then he started getting busier and more important at work, so I would still send him all my funny stories from the day and random questions about making plans for things. He started replying less and less. It got to the point where there would be something like 8 in a row from me with no responses from him all day. Now I don't bother, unless it's something I need him to respond to as soon as he's off work.

When we're apart, I really don't like to text. I feel like one of us is being rude to whoever we're with by being on our phones. Plus, when he goes out with people I really enjoy my alone time. BF's like "How's your night going?" and I'm like:

I also text @GoldenPenguin@buddysmom80@Hummingbird125@csousa1 constantly (at work, on the train, at home, on the toilet, in bed... all day, e'ryday, basically). So it's not like H and I are back and forth texting nonstop from 5am-6:30pm. He has to share me with other people too.

I have a feeling my dog won't get walked at all while I'm in Chicago. He's going to be SO CRAZY when I get back!
