Readers, and length of ceremony for non-mass wedding?

I am planning  catholic ceremony, without a mass. Does anyone know the typical length of time for this?

Also My fiance is not catholic and neither are a lot of our friends so we aren't sure who to ask to be a reader. Does anyone know if the readers have to be catholic, or if you can assign only one person to do all of the readings, rather than having two separate readers?

Re: Readers, and length of ceremony for non-mass wedding?

  • I think non-mass ceremonies are usually around 35-45 minutes.
Typically you can have any christian (not just a Catholic) read the readings.  And yes, you could just pick one person to do both!  Some people even have a jewish person (if you have a jewish friend) read the old testament reading.

But these are all good questions to check with the priest/church with.  Some priests talk longer, some priests prefer only Catholic readers, etc.
