Seating Chart

I am not going to do seating cards for my wedding but rather a chart that has everyone's seat on it.  Does it make more sense to just put each name in alphabetical order and then that persons table number next to their name?  Or would it make more sense to orangish by table?

I just think that if it is by table it is harder to find your name even if each table is in alphabetical order.

Re: Seating Chart

  • My daughter used escort cards.  The cards were set up on a table at the reception entrance and each card had the handwritten names of the guests and their table numbers.  The guests simply picked up their card and went to the table with their number on it.  No assigned seats, other than this.
Vistaprint did the cards very inexpensively for us.

  • Alphabetical.
  • Put the names alphabetically on the board with the table number beside it. Much easier to figure out!
Escort cards are sorted alphabetically too.

  • I've only ever seen it as the number/ name of the table and then the names written below it so you can see easily who you're sat with, I'm sure either way will work just as well as the other though!

I've seen both done, but I agree that alphabetical would be easier to find.
  • Whether you use a seating chart, escort cards, or both, I would keep the names alphabetical.
