Wedding/reception different days - what to wear to reception?

Hi, we are having a small immediate family (our parents and respective children) wedding at City Hall and a larger quite casual reception the next day. There is a dress I really like that is tea length that I plan on wearing to our ceremony. What should I wear to the reception? The same dress or a different one? The City Hall building is gorgeous and I'm happy to have our ceremony and fornal pictures there and definitely want to wear my dress there but I don't know what to wear for the next day. We will also have a photographer on site for the reception. Thank you!

Well technically your party the next day isn't your reception. A reception is what you have to thank the people for attending your wedding. I hope you are having something on the day of the wedding ceremony for the people who are attending the wedding. It doesn't have to be big - a dinner afterwards is fine.

As to your question about what to wear to your party the next day, wear whatever you want. Is you FI wearing what he will be wearing at the ceremony? You said it will be a casual party. Do you think a tea length dress will be too formal? If you want to wear it, I say go ahead and wear it.

Agree with all of this.

I also think it is perfectly fine to wear the same dress to the marriage celebration party the next day.  If you want to!  Even if your all's guests might be dressed more casually, no one will side-eye if you and your H are more dressed up.  It's also fine to wear something else, if you prefer that.

Bottom line, wear something you feel gorgeous and great in for both events!  Whether that's the same dress or a different outfit.
