HELP - Perfect Venues for a Fall Wedding!

Hi Ladies,

I just started my venue search for the perfect fall wedding.  I'd love to have my ceremony outdoors.  Any suggestions for venues that have beautiful grounds and great food?  I'll have approximately 150 - 175 people and looking to spend no more that $120 p/p.

Thanks!
Rose

i suggest looking at places that have an in and outdoor ceremony area-just in case of bad weather.
vanderbilt in centerport, coindre hall in huntington (both have exceptional views and will be great with fall colors). we had our pics taken at vanderbilt for our wedding early november. outstanding backgrounds-the water and the colors.

Personally Coindre Hall will be too small for what you are looking for.

Woodbury Country Club had two outdoor locations - I prefered one with the watere view.
    The Woodlands
    Venetian Yacht Club
Giorgio's at Fox Hill - it's beautiful, but I'm partial because that's where I'm getting married.
    Westbury Manor

    Hope that helps!

East Wind has indoor and outdoor locations, and we're getting married there Oct. 10th with a fall-ish theme. They put bright, fall colored mums in the ground and decorate with gorgeous arrangements of hay bales, gourds, pumpkins, fall mums, etc.

Thank you so much ladies!  That's very helpful.  Do you happen to have any price quotes for these places?  Is there room for negotiation?  Just started my search and I'm a total sucker for when it comes to negotiating.  = (

We're getting married 10.10.10 at EW and for the basic wedding package which includes open bar, cocktail, 3 course dinner, cake, etc. is 110.00 pp including tax and service charge. I've heard it a lot less for other days though.

coindre and vanderbilt can be pricey. i priced 5 years ago for our wedding so i dont even remember what it was but the locations are SO unique-old gold coast mansions. exceptional places.

I noticed that someone has already suggested The Thatched Cottage as a venue.  It is a beautiful venue located on the water in Centerport, NY and I want to make you aware of the following: We are selling out our wedding deposit at The Thatched Cottage and OFFERING $3,000 IN FREE WEDDING DEPOSIT MONEY!

For brides who are still deciding where to celebrate their wedding, we are offering you $3,000 of our deposit money absolutely free if you book your wedding celebration at The Historical Thatched Cottage on Long Island's North Shore in Centerport, New York.

If you think you will be spending approximately $20,000 in total for your catering venue and you are planning a wedding date before June 26, 2012, this is a great offer for you!

If you are considering using The Thatched Cottage for your wedding and/or you have a large guest list, please contact the seller about this free wedding deposit money offer at kvanbell@optonline.net.  Can email pictures and more information.  Congratulations to both of you!

Pricing always depends on what day of the week, time of day, and time of year you're looking at, so you really can't go by other people's quotes too much.  I will say that depending on the popularity of your timing you can usually negotiate with the venue.  I'm getting married on a Sunday afternoon next April at Flowerfield.  My fiance and I thought we would never be able to afford it because of their pricing chart, but it turned out that they worked with us.  It never hurts to ask.  Just be honest and up front about your budget.  If they can't help you, then no one's time will have been wasted.

Don't forget to include tax and gratuity to your price per person.  In other words, if a venue posts on their website that they charge $75 per person, you're also going to have tax on top of that plus most likely a 20% gratuity for the staff.  Also, if you have your ceremony on-site there's a charge for that due to the extra time demand you are putting on the staff.  For example, at Flowerfield it's $1000 to have a wedding on site.  I think West Sayville Country Club charges $800.  But that is partially offset by not having to hire a limo etc.

I'm having my wedding at The Swan Club in Roslyn.  It's really beautiful and my banquet manager, Jordana, is super sweet.  We're having a Friday wedding on 10/14/11.  The price was JUST right and Jordana is very willing to negoiate and please.  We're paying $100 a head (for a wedding of 150 guests) and we're getting everything we wanted and more.  Large cocktail hour with a seafood boat, lots of choices at dinner, a venetian hour, etc.  The Swan Club has a BEAUTIFUL outdoor garden that's great for pictures.  You can have your ceremony completely outside or in this little barn looking thing.  Not sure how to describe it but it has a lofted ceiling that they decorate with tulle and lights and there's large windows on both sides so it gives you the apperance of being outside.  They also include floral decorations in their ceremony fee (however we negotiated and they waived the fee :)

Anyway, I love it and I definately think you should check it out!
