Ulta Makeup?

Hey there!  Has anybody had a makeup application at Ulta?  What was your experience?

We're getting married on a weekday and I'm finding that none of the mall makeup counters have more than one person working at a time during the week.  I'm not requiring my BMs to get makeup done- but a few want to so they're paying their own way.  I don't want to have a freelance person come out- I was quoted $85 a face today and that's way too much.  At least with the MAC counter you get product to take home.

Is Ulta worth it or are we better off just spreading out throughout the department store?

  • I've never gone to Ulta to get my make up done {but I like the way they wax eyebrows}, but if there's a Regency Beauty Institute {www.regencybeauty.com } nearby, their make-up application is only $9. With it being that inexpensive, I'd recommend you going to do a trial to see if they are good enough for your wedding day. HTH
  • What about the MAC stores? MAybe they will have more people on staff?

I liked sephora more than ulta, personally. If you avoid the willowbrook store, the staff are really friendly and knowledgeable.

  • I did think about the MAC store... but there's not one nearby.  Sephora (at least the one in my mall) won't do makeup for "events".

I think we're going to end up with the BMs that did want makeup done getting it done at different counters.  Lame- but oh well.
  • Have you tried the bare minerals stores? They normally have a couple people working. Some of the new blow dry bars will also do make up- you could try them?
  • i did when i was in high school (2003-2007), i always got my makeup done there from special occasions. i liked it but they definitely cake it on to make sure it lasts
