Processional?

We don't have any BMs, GMs, FG, or RB. We're also not escorting parents down the aisle, since mine won't be in attendance and his prefer not to be escorted. This leaves FI, me, and our three kids.

I was thinking about having FI walk with his girls, and I'd walk with my son. If I did that, the processional would be really brief short aisle, about 8 pews worth would you bother to have music played? Would it be awkward to walk in silence?

The other option would be for the kids to walk in one at a time, and I'd follow them. FI could walk or not, his choice. Would this be a better flow? Any other suggestions?

    You don't need a song.

Since it is a smaller ceremony, would you be comfortable having your officiant simply make an announcement to indicate your entrance like "Friends and Family of CA. Giraffe and FI, please stand to greet the bride & groom!"

You and FI could then walk up to the altar together arm-in-arm, with or without your kids. In total, it would last like 10 seconds max. Totally cool and not awkward!
  • Well, there doesn't need to be music, but if there is a really short piece you could walk to, or just a few measures of a piece you like, you could do that.

I actually like the kids walking in one at a time.  It sounds very sweet.  But that's me.
  • I think soft music is appropriate, no matter how short the processional.  As a bride walking in, dead silence would probably make me even more nervous!
