Need help

I need help, I am from Memphis TN and my FI is from Rhode Island, we both live in RI. I have no clue what to do for a theme. I kind of wanted to pull some of the RI into the wedding for my family. Our colors are Turquoise, grey and navy blue if that helps any. Any ideas for me???

You definitely do not need to do a theme, and I maybe wouldn't do one since you're struggling to come up with one. My theme was "plan a beautiful ceremony and host a lovely reception." Nice and simple lol

I am not sure if themes are traditional in TN but I haven't really been to a wedding around here that had a theme. Other than "nautical" if it was in Newport or by the beaches. But you certainly don't have to do a nautical thing if that isnt your taste (tis not mine and i was married in a seaside reception and didn't have one starfish or seashell)

You could do something nautical with your colors. Or include other RI treats.
My fiance isn't from RI so we included lots of local stuff at our reception.

At the cocktail hour we had Del's lemonade (virgin and spiked)
    Clam Chowder and clam cakes
and other RI treats like salt water taffy on tables.

Our escort cards were tired to Yacht Club Soda (official drink of RI)

And we had italian cookies at the coffee bar (more of an italian rhode islander thing)

Also our OOT bags included RI treats like necco wafers, lobster lollipops, dels mix, and salt water taffy.

Lovely colors! You don't need a theme to personalize your wedding day, just try to incorporate details that is an expression of who you guys are as a couple and as an individual. For instance, if your FI is a teacher, using apples as escorts and books as centerpieces would tie into it. If you two love the movie Up, you can have a wedding cake inspired by it. Also the venue plays a big role deteremining colors and decor. For example a barn type venue would have a rustic feel to it. If you need help with colors, the Perfect Palette has tons of inspiration boards and ideas below - just search for your colors.

I did a theme for my Newport wedding that wasn't nautical nor beach themed (gasp!). Growing up in the area, I was adamantly against it. Instead, I went with a wine theme. I'm a big wine-o, and my first job out of college was at a vineyard. So you definitely don't need to conform.
That said, you can definitely do nautical if you wanted to. If you want to go with a theme, pick something that has meaning to you and your guests will think, "Yeah, that makes sense!". Where is your reception? What time of year? These are things that will help determine your theme.

I am doing a October wedding at the Weekapaug Golf Course in Westerly. I don't want to do a nautical theme, I didn't pick these colors for that reason just my favorite color happens to be turquoise

I'm not familiar with the golf course, but given that your day is in October, you could do something Fall-like with those colors pretty easily. And you'll be surrounded by rich fall colors at a golf course. Maybe add some yellow or something to make it more obvious?
But again, nothing says you have to have a theme. Just sticking with your color wheel is enough!
