Any reccs for reasonable florists?

We used Florals by Alisa.  They will work with any budget if you are upfront with what you can spend.

If you want to spend less, what about going the Stop and Shop route?

Jay from Golden Gate is great.  When I met with him I was starting to get nervous because he kept writing and writing, I was thinking it was going to be way over what I was willing to spend.  He ended up coming in almost $700 UNDER my budget and the proposal was exactly what I wanted.

I am using Sherri from Frey Florist in Providence.  I went to PC and we always used them for all the events in college we needed flowers for.  She has kind of a "flat" personality, but her work looks great and she's very reasonable for what we wanted.

Golden Gate?  I have seen lots of pictures of weddings they have done and the flowers look so expensive!  I am on the beginning end of planning, as my wedding date is Sept 2012.  What can I expect to pay for flowers for a wedding of around 160 ppl?

Ya, how is golden gate with pricing. I dont even know what kind of a budget to have for flowers.
I am making my own crystal wedding trees- so I am going to do those myself, and hten do the floral centerpiecs myself (tall vases with roses in them with beads)
    kind of like this:
(without the tall like branches of willow tree)

But then I want arrangements for the church-- and a few large arrangements for the table with my escort cards and perhaps at the doorways when you walk into the reception.

Is $800.00 for church florals and two large arrangements an unreasonable amount?
I am likely going to spend close to $600 making the crystal wishing trees and other centerpieces when all is said and done.

    Floras By Alisa!!!

I know that budget can be an iffy subject on here but my prospective budget was around $3,000 and Jay came in around $2,200 and like I said before this price is for exactly what I want.  He can work with any budget though and he's very creative.

Jay from Golden Gate!! We LOVED our flowers and his proposal was the lowest of the florists that we met with. Him and his wife Melissa are two gems and I loved working with them!

Jay from Golden Gate. My budget was under $1500 for a 140 person wedding.
I got everything I wanted for less than that.

Paul from Broadway Florists is also very willing to work with any size budget!

Sharpbride- Your 1400$ budget makes me feel better. I feel as though, if I am going to make my own centerpieces—and only want the ceremony décor and my own bouquet, and 1-2 additional larger bouquets for the entrance to the ballroom- -that I will be ok with an $800 budget!! Phew

Toni Chandler.  I can't suggest her enough.  She will work with any budget.  Jay from Golden Gate and Toni had similar prices but I liked Toni's work better.

You will get much better prices and a lot more for your money at a "grocery store" I'm using Whole Foods which came in just over Stop n Shops quote and about $600 less for any florist mentioned above.  For bouquets.  Jay from Golden Gate wanted to charge me $75 for the BM's bouquets that Whole foods is managing for $25.

If you are not very particular about flowers and they are not very important, a grocery store florist is a good option. However, keep in mind, Whole Foods and Stop and Shop does not make their living on flowers. A florist on the other hand does this for a living. That aside, my experience with Whole Foods florist (S. Main Providence location) has been mixed.  Please make sure you go over EVERY detail item so they don't forget say a corsage or use the wrong colors for the bouquet. They missed a few items on our orders on two separate ocassions. Now I just go to a real florist. They were timely and responsive but not very good on the creative end. If you have a specific vision, go with a flower professional (even if it will cost you a couple hundred dollars more for what you want and peace of mind)

And yes meet with different florists to compared not only prices but see who best understand your vision.

Add Vine and Vessel to that list. Xenia is amazing too!

Florals by Alisa were amazing. I listened to their ideas and pretty much gave them creative license. People are still talking about our flowers!

My daughter used "The Corner Flower Shoppe" in Attleboro, MA.  We only needed bouquets as I was doing the table centerpieces (my daughter isn't really big on flowers), so we did a cork and manzanita branch centerpieces with hanging votives.

The flower shop was great on price and the bouquets were beautiful. Exactly what my daughter wanted. Alittle over $400. for bridal bouquet,7 bridesmaids bouquets, throw away bouquet and 3 corsages and I ordered some greens to put on the cocktail hour tables.

For another wedding, I went to Stop & Shop in  Seekonk for the bouquet and that was beautiful too.
