Cellar No. 8 has some great red wines that we've dubbed our "weekday wine." I believe it's around $10.

Barefoot Merlot is a very nice wine for about 6.99 a bottle If you want to go a bit lighter. Mirassou pino noir is very nice - runs about 10.00 a bottle Menage a trois - is a blend of three reds - 9.99  my favorite every day red wine.

I love Mirassou pinot also!  I really like red zin's- dancing bull has a nice $10 one.  I like to go wander around Spec's and grab the employee picks, they are usually pretty good once you know the general type you want (merlot, pinot etc).  Yellow tail is a good every day brand also.

I work at a restaurant and I agree with the Menage a Trois red suggestion, simply because it is a nice blend and because even a finicky wine drinker such as myself can drink this and not complain about it being too dry/ashy.  I suggest this red to my customers very often. Perhaps your local wine or spirits places have wine tastings you can go to try some of these? Give them a try and see what you think!

I'll have to trust what you all say.  I've never tasted a red wine that I liked.  My FI doesn't like red either, so we are hoping there is not much left over, but we want to please the crowd too  :)

I'm a little late on this but we love sterling vintners or vineyards (I can' never remember) cab sauvignon.
