SOUTH JERSEY WEDDING VENUE, HELP LADIES!

HELLO LADIES!
I am looking for a venue in the south jersey area.
Idealy, I would like to spend under $50/per person for an about 180-200 guest wedding.
Please give me any/as much advice or any places you have in mind!
I have a lot of details of my wedding planned, but this definately seems like the most challenging part!
Thanks so much in advance! XOXO

  • I think Marion House in Cherry Hill might have been in this price range. I do know they let you bring in your own liquor, which really cuts down on costs.

  • I would also look into Cooper River Boathhouse, Moorestown Community Center, and Gibson House in Evesham Twp.  I know the first two have specific caterers you must use, but I don't think Gibson House has a set list of caterers.  You can work with each caterer to make a menu based on your cost.

Going forward, I would be careful to plan too much more.  What if you cannot get your date at any affordable venue?  Then you will need to re-do all of your contracts and hope that an existing vendor has the new date available.

Also, remember that you do not need to have a full big 5 hour reception.  If you have your ceremony at a non-meal time, either 2 pm or 8 pm.   You can simply have a cake & punch, appetizers & cake, or dessert only reception.  This will keep your costs down significantly.  You can still get a DJ and all the other standard reception things, but people will probably not stay as long, especially for the 2 pm ceremony.  They would be inclined to leave around 5 or 6 to go get dinner.  You will have properly hosted your guests, which is the main thing, but non-meal receptions don't usually last as long.

Good luck and come back with any questions!

  • <50 all inclusive of alcohol probably won't happen for a Saturday night reception. Masso's in Glassboro will probably come the closest, if you have it off season you might be able to pull it off.

<div>I definately do not mind having it on a Friday or even sunday of a three day weekend, we are very open to any date. Thankyou for you suggestion! </div>
  • Just to clarify - at Marion House, you just buy the alcohol from whatever store you want - they still have a bartender, etc. If you buy from Canals on Route 38, you can return any unused liquor afterwards for a full refund.

While I have to agree with PP that finding a venue for <$50/pp on a Saturday will be difficult, even looking at a Sunday of a 3-day weekend might be tough.  Some venues treat those days like a Saturday event, since the weekday holiday lengthens the weekend.  Just something to consider.

Also, please keep in mind that most venues will give you a price per head <strong>prior </strong>to tax/gratuity/etc.  Make sure that they are giving you your bottom line amount up front.  It would be a bummer to find something that works but then realize you need to ad 7% tax & 20% gratuity (norm) to the cost per person.

    Good luck!
  • Columbus Manor in Williamstown will get you close to that...good luck!!!

I would look into Villa Manor (by Brigalias). They have pricing for a $45 menu and $55 menu but I'm pretty sure that does not include alchohol.
    <a href="http://www.brigalias.com/menus.html" rel="nofollow">http://www.brigalias.com/menus.html</a>
    <a href="http://www.brigalias.com/villa_manor.html" rel="nofollow">http://www.brigalias.com/villa_manor.html</a>

Brigalias is beautiful and all the food is done by the same owner so I'm sure it's very nice!!
