Morgantown area reception and ceremony sites?

Can anyone recommend reception and ceremony sites in the Morgantown area or within 30 miles of Morgantown?  I'm paying for my own wedding and would like to be able to choose my own caterer and bartender.

I am having my wedding and reception at Lakeview. They have different menu packages and types of bar packages also. The nice thing is you can do wahtever you want. They say they will "build you a package". They have several different rooms to have your reception. Mine is in a room that overlooks the lake, but not all of them do. Good luck!

Lakeview is fairly expensive to my understanding since it is a "resort", but I guess it depends on your budget really. Another place is The Waterfront Place Hotel, but you can't choose your own caterer.

I've also been struggling with the Morgantown area in finding a ceremony/reception site and resorted to looking to places in Pittsburgh. I've ended up finding a lovely barn on the Falling Waters property in the Bear Run, PA area because I simply could not find a good venue here.

Hello, I'm a party planner, so I hope some of my suggestions might help! :0)

Depending on the size of your wedding, amount of guests, theme/color scheme, if you want it inside or outdoors?

Some of these might be what you are seeking... though they may have changed what they do/do not allow.  Just a few starters to look at.  If you can answer the questions, though, I can narrow down more.  :)

WVU Campus has some lovely sites... like the Alumni Center inside & out. Or the Core Aboretum on the WVU Evansdale Campus.

Hotels with nice places... But they might not let you cater yourself.  Check with them.

    The Waterfront Palace is nice.

Or close to Morgantown (sort of) in Fairmont...

I'm using the Alumni Center, the prices seemed reasonable.  But I did a lot of research beforehand.  It's 1K rental, but if you meet your food and drink minimum they cut it in half.  The food costs depend on what you want to eat, buffets are around 25 a person, but the drinks cost per person.  But you cant bring in your own food or drink.

The Waterfront Place quoted me 100 a person, and I just couldnt afford that.  It included EVERYTHING though.  Same thing, must use their cook and bartenders.

Some other places to think about are Touchdown Terrace (you can bring in your own alcohol, etc)
Bent Willys also will rent out areas for weddings.

The hotel Morgan only seats about 140, I had way more people than that. But it's beautiful there.

Hope that helps a little bit.

I am getting married at Lakeview, its not too expensive. I got the basic package which includes a choice of two dinner entrees that includes rolls and a salad, a cocktail hour with fruit and vegetable crudetes, a champagne toast, 3 hours of beer and wine bar (for another 5 a person you can upgrade to an open bar which we did), a wedding cake, table cloths, ceterpieces, table numbers and a maitre de on the day of the wedding all for around $56.00 a person (and that was after my $5 a person bar add on) bride and groom get a king suite for the night. I think ther were a few other things but I can remember off the top of my head. I got half off the reception room because I m getting married on a friday. The reception rooms range from 500 -1500. I chose the 1500 one but since i got it half off it was only 750. If your FI in the military? They give a 10% discount if so.

From what I have heard the alumni center is booked through 2011 on saturdays.

If you want to take the drive, The WISP in Deep Creek lake MD is very nice and reasonably priced, about the same as Lakeview.

I have looked at a couple of places.  Benton Grove in Morgantown is also nice.  I am considering for my wedding.

We rented the Alumni Center summer 2011. Our ceremony is going to be in the courtyard and reception inside. I found it to be cheaper than Lakeview. Another option you may want to look into is Forks of Cheat Winery.
