FI's birthday gift

So FI's birthday is coming up in two weeks and I need some help on birthday gift ideas. I thought about trying to get tickets to a Rangers game since we haven't gone to one yet this year. I also thought about getting him a bbq grill for the new home. I have no ideas on what bbq grill to buy but I figured I would get a small gift and in his card include a picture of a grill and let him pick it out. When I asked what he wanted he said a dishwasher and new fridge for the new home.... I thought the grill while for the home would be something fun and entertaining.

I don't have any budget in mind, we usually spend about $200 or so on birthday gifts but I don't mind going over this time since we just got engaged. Any other suggestions or ideas? Is the grill a bad idea? Thoughts/opinions/suggestions welcomed!!!

  • I think the grill is a grea idea. This is the one we're getting, it's probably the most bang for your buck

  • I think a grill is a great idea! FI would love a grill right now but the new apartment he is moving into doesn't allow grills so we will have to wait until we get a house.

It is way too much grill for us right now, but BF had to have all the bells and whistles!

Yea if I got him a grill I wouldn't know what he would want so I'd rather let him pick it out.

  • This is what FI and I have...and we absolutely love it. When it comes to grills, you really can't beat a Weber. Even older, used models sell for quite a bit because they really hold their value over time. They also have some in the $399 price range if this is too far over your budget.

When it comes to grills, I find most guys really have strong opinions about what they want. Maybe you could just get him a Home Depot gift card for x amount to put towards a grill? That way he can find what he likes when you two are ready to purchase. Also...you can find a lot of great sales just before the 4th of July. That's when we bought ours 2 years ago.
  • Wow that's a nice grill Allusive. I definitely plan to let him pick out what he wants. I've heard Weber made really good grills.

  • What is your FI's bday? My H's bday is that soon.

I too need to focus my attention on picking out his gift. Your idea for a grill is super great!

  • I don't think he really knows how to grill or do it well. He had one at his old apartment but when he moved in he got rid of it because it was cheap and we didn't have room for it.

  • I think a grill is a great gift idea. I especially like Liv's suggestion to wrap some grill accessories and include a gift card/note that he is getting a grill too.

[QUOTE]I love the idea of a grill. If he's someone who loves to grill then that's perfect. I like the idea of maybe getting a nice set of grilling utensils and wrapping those, along with a gift card to Home Depot to buy the grill. Mo and I had this set of tools and really liked it: http://www.williams-sonoma.com/products/grill-tools-4-piece-set-storage-case/?pkey=e%7Cgrill%2Bset%7C12%7Cbest%7C0%7C1%7C24%7C%7C2&cm_src=PRODUCTSEARCH||NoFacet-_-NoFacet-_-NoMerchRules-_-
