Dress me?

I am going to a rehearsal dinner tonight and I can't decide what to wear.  I've narrowed it down to two dresses, one is slightly more casual than the other.  BF (a groomsman) was instructed to wear dress pants with a dress shirt or polo, no ties.

Dress 1

This is the dress I was planning to wear, but when I tried it on last night it felt pretty clingy and I felt like it showed so lower tummy pudge.  Is it super noticeable or am I just being picky?

Dress 2

This sundress might be a bit too casual, but it kind of poofs out at the waist hiding any pudge.  But it is pretty short, I always wear it with leggings.  So imagine it with black leggings.

So which dress do you think I should go with?  Oh and please excuse the dirty bathroom, no makeup, lack of hairstyle, no shoes and unshaved legs.

    hahaha no judgment.

I actually think dress two looks more dressy... I guess it is the structure of it?
  • I also think dress 2 is more dressy. I'd go with that one!

  • Dress 2! Dress one looks like its more flowy, like something you would wear to the beach on top of your bathing suit. The second just looks plain cute!

  • Hmm...I guess it is the material that makes me think it is less dressy. It's just a cotton sundress in my mind.

  • I like dress #2 from the picture anyways.  Very cute and I love the pattern.

  • Definitely #2. It's super cute.

  • I agree with the PPs, go with dress 2. It looks great on you and sounds like it is very appropriate for the wedding you are going to.

Dito this, I must have missed that part when I read the OP but I agree that leggings would make it too casual.

I missed that too! Leggings are way casual.
  • Eh, I'm not sure.  It is really short!  I'm not sure that I can sit comfortably in it without leggings.

Are there any other dress options?

  • Dress two with a cardigan or pashmina.

I don't have any pictures of me in it, but I have this dress.  I ruled it out because it seemed to dark for summer.  And in case you didn't see this, this is just for the rehearsal dinner, not the actual wedding.

  • Dress #2 without leggings - that will make it too casual. Also throw on a little cardigan. You could always wear a pair of excercise shorts (the really tight ones) under the dress if you're concerned with the length.

Also, I am a big fan of belts around the mid-section. The large picture won't load so I can't see a lot of detail, but that might help to dress it up a bit.

  • I'm always cold, so I'll definitely be wearing a cardigan with which ever dress I choose.

Oh, I like that dress. I'm a big fan of dark colors, so I might be biased, but I don't think it is too dark for summer.

  • I really like that purple dress! I don't think it's too dark for summer. I would go with that dress or dress #2 without leggings. I suppose if it's the rehearsal dinner you might be able to get away with leggings but I would advise against it.

It is actually grey in person.  I'll try those two on when I get how and see which one is better.

Thank you everyone for you help and input.  I tried to get BF's opinion last night but he was zero help.  I may as well have been asking the fridge for input.

FI can be the same way, especially when he doesn't get "why" it is important. When he does care though, he can be quite opinionated.

Triple-O.  I was gonna ditto this but since it's already been ditto-d (or ditto-ed?), I have to triple-o it.  I like "I triple-O that" better than "I third that."

In any case, dress 2, no leggings.
