Hey ladies,
I just wanted to see what opinions you have on a possible career change. One side of me thinks this is a great opportunity. Another thinks that it could be the biggest regret in my career.
Currently I work in a basement of a LARGE hospital. I love where I work, and if I ever want to get that "hospital" feel ie: be around people, I can take a quick walk over to the main campus. But for the most part I'm pretty isolated. A few minutes ago our department's secretary just sent an e-mail announcing three full time positions available at a satellite office literally down the street from me. Two are basically positions to be a liaison between the University that's affiliated with us and the hospital and the other position is like a senior position (which I would be more interested in)
I told bf about it, he's all for it of course since he's off on Thursdays and all he can think about is a lunch time quickie once a week. I think it'll be good since it could save us some money on a dog walker and/or doggie day care since I can run home real quick to let the dog out.
On the other hand, it would be such a change from me to go from an 800 bed facility to basically a doctor's office. Also, what if the doctors that work there are complete jerks? What if I hate my co workers? Also money would be a definite factor. I just got a big raise with my annual review and I would hate to have it docked down because I moved positions. Also I know the position is Monday through Friday but it doesn't specify what hours so essentially I could work until 8pm OR I could come in at 6am and get out at 2:30pm.
I e-mailed the manager of that office just to see what the day to day duties are with both different types of positions before I put in a formal application. I also don't want to look like a career jumper since I've been in my current position now a little over a year but at my organization for 5 years. If I applied for jobs outside of my organization it wouldn't really show me as a career jumper. I don't know though to be honest with you.
So any opinions on this would be appreciated. I thank you in advance!
