Paid value/ Promotional value on Livingsocial deals?

Hi ladies,
i'm looking at some livingsocial deals and see the fine print for a paid value expiration and a promotional value expiration date. What's the difference? Just wondering... thanks!

If you paid $10 for a $50 voucher, the $50 expires on the promotionsal value expiration date. The paid value, $10 does not expire. So even if you don't use your voucher before the expiration date, you can still use the $10 you made for it. Here is a link to a current deal:

Example: If a deal says, Pay $10 for a $50 voucher, the $10 is the paid value and the $50 is the promotional value. So even if you miss the promotional deadline, you can still use it as a gift card for as much as you paid.
I bought a frozen yogurt groupon that I didn't use in time, but I was able to go later and use it for the amount in which I purchased.
