Unity Ceremony?

I'm having trouble deciding whether or not to have a unity ceremony.  I think I would like to have one, but I don't want to do candles or sand.  Anyone have any other unique ideas?

Do you want a family unity ceremony or something to show unity between you and your FI?

I just want it to be the two of us.

There is always the Pagan/ Celtic idea of handfasting. That is where the sayings "tying the knot" and "giving your hand" comes from.

Otherwise you can mix rose/ flower petals together.

Thanks for the ideas.  I googled alternative unity ceremonies and found what I think I"m going to use.  We are Christian, so I thought the God's Knot is a really neat idea.  It's going to be so moving.  It's a ceremony of tying 3 cords together.  One cord represents God, and the other two, the bride and groom.  I LOVE it!!  Here's the web address if anyone is interested.

We're planning to do the cord of three strands ceremony, but I've also heard of a rose ceremony where the vase holds and nurishes the rose, and the rose makes the vase beautiful. It sounded kind of cool.
