So my first bridal shower was this weekend and it went...well exactly like I knew it would lol. It was a surprise that I knew about (FMIL knows I hate surprises but planned it as one anyone and one of my bridesmaids told me). So for starters, it was at a bar/restaurant that I hate. FI used to work there and his exes are always there and it's always just drama. Then FBIL/FSIL apparently came in town for it and brought their baby (FFILs only grandchild) so literally the entire shower FILs (yea FFIL was participating) did nothing but prance him around and make everyone pay attention to him and not me, even when opening presents and while people were playing the games. FFIL even exclaimed "He said grandpa!"....the kid is only 9 months old.
Then it came time to cut the cake and FMIL got the exact cake I asked her not to get a few months back (she asked what kind I wanted and I told her i'm good with white cake/white icing but no whipped cream icing or fillings). White cake/whipped cream icing/raspberry filling is what she got. So the shower started drawing to an end and people were leaving when what do you know, one of FI's exes shows up and starts causing a huge scene. She was finally escorted away but it still just ruined it for me.
Aside from getting a few good gifts (50% of what we got we didnt register for so I dunno??) it was a dude. I can't wait for my side of the family's shower in April
