In Response to Re: halp? : It's possible, but from what I've read and been told by our health promotions managers at work, the results would be minimal at best. The same workout time after time after time becomes your new normal, so even increasing the intensity or duration would be better than continuing to do the same thing over and over again.

I guess I would buy that if we were talking about an extra 40-50 pounds or so, but at that height and weight, that is almost morbidly obese.  Thats not a weight you sit at because you have plateaud.

It looks to me like you're not eating often enough. Eating just three standard meals a day, versus say three square meals with a 150-200cal snack in between each meal, creates extreme dips and peaks in your metabolism. The goal should be to keep your blood sugar at an even rate throughout the day, so you don't feel that faint low blood sugar feeling in between meals.

Snacks that I love combine a protein with a healthy fat and some fiber. My go-to snacks are: apple slices with peanut butter, carrots w/hummus, sliced pear with full fat cheese, and trail mix (I measure it, since I tend to over-eat it).

ETA: I should add the disclaimer that I am not a health services professional. It is one of my collateral duties at work, but I am by no means a nutritionist, dietitian or weight loss counselor. It's just one of my areas of interest that I have been educating myself on over the past 6 years or so.

How do you track your calories? Are you aware of your macronutrients?

I feel like none of my questions are really being answered...

How much water do you drink? It doesnt look like you get nearly enough carbs throughout the day. Do you eat other proteins than chicken? Wheres the fruit?

For example, today I ate
protein shake for breakfast (made with soy and ISO Sensations powder)
tea with 1tsp sugar
nature valley bar
babybel cheese
pear, banana, unsweetened apple sauce, baby carrots
12 grain bread sandwich with turkey meat on it
pork stirfry with basmati rice and steamed broccoli
I also had 3.5L of water
all of that totaled is about 1650 calories.

My goodness, I could not go that long of a stretch between breakfast and lunch on only two scrambled eggs. I would be megabitch.

Let's try altering today's meals slightly, so you can get somewhat of an idea of what your meals should look like:

B - Two scrambled egg whites with diced bell peppers, tomatoes, onions. One slice whole wheat toast w/butter or 1tbsp peanut butter.
S - An apple drizzled with honey, 10 roasted unsalted almonds.
L - 6oz boneless skinless chicken breast cooked in white wine and olive oil, steamed broccoli, and a baked sweet potato.
S - Greek yogurt
D - Baked salmon filet with garlic and lemon, steamed bok choy and snow peas with onion and garlic, one serving of brown rice.

This is just an example. I substituted the second chicken serving of the day (dinner) for salmon that has heart healthy omega-3s.
ETA: I just re-read your previous meal plan and made slight adjustments.
ETA2: Great, you just left.

Sorry, Blue. I have it, too. Every month, my left ovary gives me a shitton of pain. We aren't trying to conceive (but I suspect it would be incredibly difficult, if not downright impossible - mostly due to my age), but I know it's a bitch for your own body to fight you.

I really do empathize and know it's frustrating, saddening, and maddening.

I'm an insensitive asshole because I think it's completely ridiculous that you would need to post this as an AE.

If you have borderline thyroid issues, getting them treated anyway will make you feel better and might help the weight a bit.  Personally, I think you need a new doctor.  There's too much that you've told us that doesn't add up to me.
Mara- yes, last year.  It was on the cusp of being hypothyroidism but not enough that they would medicate for it.
Posted by Smandysmiles
I haven't read through the thread yet, so if someone else mentioned this already just ignore me. You may need to go to an endocrinologist and get tested. Many GP won't do anything for you if you test close to the hypothyroidism limit. But specialists often have different standards and will take into account other factors to determine if treatment for hypothyroidism is the best course. My mom went through this for years--our family doc wouldn't treat her for hypothryroidism because she wasn't over the 'standard' limits, but as soon as she went to a specialist they started treating her and had her adjust certain parts of her diet and exercise. It has helped her tremendously.

Sorry , I used bad wording.
She talked to her dr and spoke with people who had had them done and did alot of research. And went on the waiting list  and had  consults with the dr that did the  surgery a few times. It took 3 years  for her to get it done, part of that was a oops at the drs office and her name got bumped.
She decided it was her best option, she had tried so many other ways and was tired of not being able t ride her horse or fo on hikes with my sisters and I.
It was very life changing for her, she lost alot of weight in a very short amount of time, I think she stayed around 165-175 after she stoped loosing weight. But she couldn't eat sugar, fat, caffine, any thing carbonated, alcohol (she did drink after about a year, wine and hard alcohol, little to no sugar in them) So it took away alot of her options for food, she would get sick if she had any of those things foe about 2 years after the surgery and then she started incorperating things back into her diet. But it was worth it to her, she could ride again and go on trips with us and do more than before.
I don't think anyone should do it without the proper research and discustiions with their Dr. Or without trying other things.
