Is this stupid?

Background - H is a Christmas freak. He loves everything about it and would love our entire house to be decked out. We've already spent most of our Christmas budget. He also has 2 birthdays due to discrepencies in his adoption papers. He was actually born on Dec 3rd, but his legal birthday is Dec 23rd.

The other day I found a bunch of Christmas bathroom and kitchen stuff at Target. I was thinking of buying them (hand towels, bath mat, dish towels, etc) and then decking out his bathroom and the kitchen the morning of his Dec 3rd birthday. Depending on schedules he would either see it first thing upon waking, or after getting home from work.

Is this cute or just stupid?

My coworker's husband does this for her birthday - he decorates the bathroom because that's where she heads first when she gets up.  She loves it.

No, I like it. I'm going to wake up super early (or stay up really late the night before) FI's birthday, and put streamers and balloons all over the house.

It's never stupid to decorate with Christmas stuff, especially if you know he'll love it.

What's stupid is that my H won't let me put up Christmas decorations until after Thanksgiving.

Well, what's funny is that I asked him today when I could decorate and he said not until later this month. So I said, "Yay, that means I can start tonight since this is the last day of the month!" and he backtracked and said no, no, NEXT month.

But, he does let me keep some things up yearround, like our christmas welcome mat, a santa hat, and a couple other things. So, there's that I guess.

And for the record, there is NOTHING stupid about christmas decorations.  They bring a smile and cheer to all who see them.

I'm convinced that holiday decor may be the key to world peace.  It's hard to hate someone when their house smells like pie and there are twinkling lights everywhere.

He's excuse is that it's much more fun to put up decorations when it's not 30 degrees outside (and it's going to get down to 35 tonight, eff). I guess that arguement won't work for you though :(

The trick is to try putting up Holiday Decor the 1st of October.  Let him argue with you and "compromise" on November 1st  ;)

The next time I go to the store (which will be Tuesday, when Toy Story 3 comes to DVD), I am buying some pie and Christmas-y scented candles. And I plan on raiding the Christmas aisles. I can't wait. Sometimes I'll just simmer cinnamon, but candles are so pretty.

Well, we don't put lights on the outside of the house. We have a very oddly shaped house (think two octagons connected together by a small straight hallway, then a separate swuare garage) so lights would be a major PITA. I just stick some cheery stuff in the yard by the house, but not anywhere else because most of our yard is his plant nursery.

And I will totally be working on that compromise next year, Anna.

FI hates Christmas, and it makes me sad every year. I feel like I'm missing out on a lot, because he doesn't like it.

Everyone, I demand pics of your house all decked out. I'll be lucky if I get a fake tree this year.

This will be the first year FI and I have a tree, we didn't last year because we had a puppy and an infant...not so much the infant because we always knew where he was, but the puppy.  Plus we don't do Christmas, we do Yule, but I love having a tree.
