Snarky Brides

Cat painting PIP

As promised, I'm going to AW my cat painting since I couldn't do so earlier in the art thread. So, here ya go:

This one was part of a monochromatic series I did on the stages of grief. This one is denial. My favorite is anger, since I modeled it after Vin Diesel in the XXX poster.
But I can't get a good photo of that one because it's behind glass.

And this one my mom banished to the back hallway because she said it's too creepy. Sorry it's so washed out.

Re: Cat painting PIP

  • I love them :) You are so good!
  • Wow, Seshat, those are awesome.
  • I like them too! I really like the denial one.
  • So you are an artist AND a writer!  You are SO COOL! :)
It's time. Adoption saving and process started in November 2012.

Thanks! I love the kitten because I imagine that's what Whisky looked like as a little guy. Only he gas gold eyes, not blue.

I like that series, it was an experiment in acrylics for me. My favorites are denial and anger. I wish I had all of them up here but the rest are back home in my portfolio. I really need to transport the rest of my stuff up here. I think the only other one I have is shock.
  • You have talent lady! I love the last one!

  • Seshat, those are fantastic! The detail on the kitty one is amazing!

  • Wow, you have so much talent!  I love the last one.  It is creepy, but it reminds me of the  Dali/surreal style I like so much.
  • Sesh, try taking it from the side, and fairly close. That helped me get clear photos of the butter sculptures at the fair last year.

And you know how important that is.

    And, they are wonderful.

Yeah, npa, is a little creepy. Sometimes I feel like he's staring at me and not in a good way. I put it in the guest room so now our guests get to see the creepy painting. It's right next to my anti-religion piece, ha. H calls it the reject painting room because it's all my controversial pieces.

For the high school program I was in, we had to take a "direction" in art for our final portfolio presentation. Mine was taking controversial issues and bringing them to light, an in-you-face kind of approach (most others did flowers and kittens and such). It made for quite the final show, bright and colorful flowers next to a painting about depression. One lady said I must have a "traumatic personality," whatever that means.

ETA--missy, butter sculptures? I'm intrigued. Pictures?
  • You write and paint? *swoon*

Did anyone else think of that chick who actually painted on her cat when they saw this thread? Just me?

On her cat? Why would anyone do this?

I have a cat painted on a rock. I'm not sure where it came from, but it's cool looking.

    Ha! I love this.

ETA: I love the guest room-creepy painting situation, not the biznatch that said you were weird.
  • I can't remember her name, but yes she painted her cat, and then showed pictures.
I have no idea how she got the cat to submit to that.

Here's one. the rest are impossible to capture with my puny camera. They are a mix of oils, pen and ink, mixed media. And a lot have writing on them or magazine picture images, so in a picture it would just look like a jumbled mess. But I have one on religion, abortion, depression, and death all in one room. Yeah, it's the reject room for sure.

This one was about cultural differences and having your true self be supressed on the outside while the inside self struggled to get out. I can't really get all the color and detail to show.
  • I really like that one! I love that you chose to tackle controversial issues. That's very (for lack of a better word) ballsy and I like it!

  • Sesh! These are great!

It also makes me happy that there are more painters out there. Every time someone says that painting is dead, I want to beat them over the head with a canvas :-)

  • Wow Seshat your art is very intriguing!  I really like the monochomatic one, (#2) above, it strikes a chord in me, in that I keep looking at it :)  I didn't read it as Denial at first, but now I do :)

You are very talented :)  Congratulations!  I hope that you keep pursuing this :) You have a fan base now :)

Muahaha, that was Larissa. She was the lawyer who also made and sold her own soaps, did face painting, and had blogs for each of these things PLUS a law blog in her sig. She painted a jersey or something on her white cat. Poor thing.

Also, these are great, Sesh. You ladies blow me away with your talent!
