Hideous earrings my MiL gave me....

Re: Hideous earrings my MiL gave me....

  • Ok...ready?

Wear them to the rehearsal dinner and make sure she sees them. If she says something on the wedding day when she doesn't seem them on you just say that you really enjoy them but you had a different idea for your wedding jewelry. Change of subject.

    THis isn't a big deal...you'll be fine
    Anniversary
In Response to Re: Hideous earrings my MiL gave me.... : Lady, they're BAD! hahaha...I think the situation is hilarious.

They're bad...but not as bad as her reaction to them.  That was just immature and unnecessary.

  • Repetive "shreiking and giggling"? Taping them to his ears? Seriously?

You really couldn't figure out to just wear them a few times around her and then politely say that while you appreciate the gesture, you already had your wedding jewelry picked out.

I was completely unaware it was legal for 5-year-olds to get married.

  • My mother in law has given me pieces of jewelry that aren't my style too, but I wear them around her so as not to hurt her feelings.  The dolphin earrings are awful and totally not wedding wear.  There's nothing wrong with telling her you had something more formal in mind for the wedding and leave it at that.  Swallow your pride and wear them to the shower or the rehearsal dinner, she probably won't think anything of it.  Don't overthink things and make more stress for yourself.
Hi honey!  We miss you on Etiquette!  Guess what?  Most of the same people frequent both boards, so you'll likely get the same reaction here.  You're STILL BEING A drama QUEEN. Oh, but while I'm here... how is an "erk" sound ever polite when receiving a gift?
    Posted by kikibaby
I think the "erk" sound is polite when the alternatives would be a laughing or giving the "Oh My God these are so ugly i can't believe you actually bought these & expect me to wear them" look <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-laughing.gif" border="0" alt="Laughing" title="Laughing" />
  • Ug the people on the Etiquette board need lessons in Etiquette- they're pretty much the biggest B*t^($ I've seen. The fact that they followed you here to continue to be rude to you just goes to show how sadly pathetic their lives are. Wear them to a shower and tell her you have already picked out your wedding jewerly.

Way to bring up a post from MARCH and hide in it to say a really biitchy thing. We are one board over (such a loooooong way away, I know) if you want to talk. If you are too chicken to do it there I suggest you keep your mouth shut.

Congratulations on winning the lamest, most passive aggressive post of the day. Your prize is this:

    <a href="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/images/store/1/8/f188cda3-8434-4f84-b856-fc914398e32c.large.jpg" title="Click to view a larger photo" onclick="return gSiteLife.LoadForumPage('ForumImage', 'plckPhotoId', 'f188cda3-8434-4f84-b856-fc914398e32c', 'plckRedirectUrl', gSiteLife.EscapeValue(window.location.href));" class="PhotoLink"><img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/images/store/1/8/f188cda3-8434-4f84-b856-fc914398e32c.medium.jpg" alt="" /></a>

But since this picture is kind of the opposite of lame, you're welcome!

It's a good thing you posted that over here where none of them will ever find it.
  • How do people find these oldasfuck threads? I really and truly am curious.

I am glad it got resurrected though, because just this morning I was thinking that there weren't quite enough people whining about how much the boards suck. Thanks a bunch!

  • Figures, she posts and runs. I am not surprised though.

She's probably been festering on it for weeks and finally thought of a comeback to post.

Well, she did say her awesome piece, so I'm assuming at this point we're supposed to be sucking it or something, because she clearly won the conversation. Her comment was so unique and badass, I just don't know what to do with myself. Help?

  • The "Etiquette brides need to learn some etiquette" line is one of my faves of all time.  Big shock that the people who make the biggest etiquette faux pas don't even know what the word etiquette means.  They probably feel sorry for our husbands, too.  I don't know why, though.  I let my husband out of his cage twice a day to poop.

Aw, you're so sweet Heels! Mine's too busy looking at porn and regretting the day he married me to poop. It's becoming a problem.

And I find it very funny as well the misunderstandings of what "etiquette" is. Also funny are the people who think "Etiquette" posters are supposed to act like Miss Manners. Because we are caricatures embodying the board titles we post on, I guess? I better not venture over to NEY then, because that would suck to have to get married all over again.
