Cupcake Toppers on Cake Slices - Your Thoughts

I cannot get enough of cute cupcake toppers like these (http://www.etsy.com/listing/59519915/peppy-toppers-set-of-12%22) and these (http://www.etsy.com/listing/62095375/printable-pink-and-yellow-flags?) but we are going with sheet cake that will be sliced and plated before the guests see it. My fiance went to school for culinary/pastry arts and has friends that are going to make us a display cake that will not be cut but will be used for our first anniversary (or we may have a few small cakes decorated differently) and we will also have a dessert table with lots of different treats. Since we aren't having cupcakes, but I love the cupcake toppers, do you think it would look strange to put cupcake toppers on the individual cake slices?

sorry but i think it will look a little odd and a bit too big for the slice of cake.

I think it's a cute idea, but I could see them being forgotten in the rush to cut the cake.

I think it would look fine on an individual slice, but then does that mean your cake will be covered in little toppers? That's the image I'm picturing, and I think that would be bizarre.
