Green coffee bean extract??

Green Coffee Bean Extract-  So I heard about this stuff in the news and that is supposed to help naturally speed up your metabolism and lose weight.  It has been on Dr. Oz (which I always thought was somewhat reputable?) Does anyone know any thing about this stuff or used it before?? Any thoughts?

</div><div>It does the exact same way that drinking coffee speeds up your metabolism. </div><div>Green coffee bean extract is just that... </div><div>Coffee beans are green before they are roasted (which gives them the brown color) The beans have far more caffeine in them before they are roasted. The longer the roasting, the less caffeine (so for those of you that drink the "bold" or "dark" roasts because you think it wakes you up better, think again!) </div><div>
</div><div>When you drink or eat caffeine (from coffee, tea, energy drinks, pills, etc), it dilates your blood vessels which speeds up your blood flow. This, in turn, elevates your heart rate (it has to work faster to keep up with the blood cells). In this way, you "burn more calories" because your heart rate has risen above what it would be without caffeine. </div><div>
</div><div>It's a way of tricking your body into speeding up your metabolism momentarily. It won't just magically stay there. Caffeine has been used for decades for diet/weight loss strategies. And heads up, I still see plenty of overweight people drinking coffee. </div><div>
</div><div>Also, because it's more caffeine than in a cup of coffee (presumably), you will run a higher risk of creating a dependence on the stuff, causing you far more frequent and painful headaches when you stop taking the pill (this is because your body gets used to the dilated blood vessels; so when you stop drinking/supplementing, suddenly they constrict which is a shock to the system that your body doesn't appreciate). </div><div>
</div><div>This also means that if coffee doesn't settle with you ( headaches, jitters, hard to stay focused, trots (mmmhmmm I went there), snippyness, stomach aches, etc) this supplement will most likely make those symptoms worse. The acidity of the coffee bean is still in that green coffee bean extract. </div><div>
</div><div>On another note, your pH balance in your body is crucial to short-term and long-term health. Acidic and alkaline-forming foods are both necessary to your health, but going too far one way or the other can cause long-term damage and numerous health problems. Popping green coffee bean pills every day without adjusting your diet to incorporate more alkaline-forming foods could really hurt your system. </div><div>
</div><div>^And if you have NO idea what I'm talking about with this last statement, I suggest you go ahead and dump this whole idea, pick up a health foods book, and research. Dr. Oz is an idiot. Don't let yourself get sucked into his idiocracy and damage your body long-term</div>

Nothing to add, but ditto to the fact that Dr. Oz is no miracle worker.  My gastro specialist told me all about him, and how though Oz is an expert in his speciality, his specialty is a very, very, very small, specific gastro surgery.  He is not the expert of health, but if you need whatever the specific procedure is - then he's your guy. (Sorry, I can't remember the issue he fixes, but it was something I had never heard of before)
