Getting in Shape

WHAT is going on?!

I did weight watchers last summer.  It worked, so I tried it again a month ago.  I lost 2 lbs in the first week, but then gained it back...and then some.  So, I switched tactics and started counting calories instead.  In order to lose a pound a week, I'm supposed to be consuming 1454 calories a day.  I've been tracking EVERYTHING I eat and have been working out 6 days a week.  I haven't drank any soda, drink lots of water, and am watching my salt intake as well.  I thought I lost a couple of inches, but I remeasured myself this morning; my waist is the same as it was 3 weeks ago, but my hips and arms have increased in size.  The scale says I've gained 4.4 pounds in 17 days.  Frown

I've been avoiding the scale because people have said that when you start working out, you gain a couple of pounds at first due to muscle mass.  Well 4.4 lbs is more than "a couple of pounds", and I can see the weight gain in my face.

I am getting really discouraged and I don't know what to do!!
