Candy Buffet...Revisited

I recently posted some questions about a candy buffet.  Wondering if any of you have used half pint mason jars for guests to fill and if they are large enough?  Also...has anyone used gallon mason jars as part of the display?  Not sure if a scoop will fit.

    I have not used mason jars but half pint mason jars should be big enough and is a really cute idea to take the candy away in! 

    How big is the opening for the gallon mason jar?  You can get small scoops.  The scoops I have for my apothecary jars measure 2" wide.  Anything 4" or more wide should be fine to get the scoop and hand in.

    I've been contemplating that size Mason jar as well...I think it'll work well!  Sometimes the Ball company puts out coupons for Mason jars.
