Wine Glass Favors?

Hi! I saw an ad in a wedding magazine with wine glasses that have escort cards(place cards) that sit on the rim of the glass ( http://timelesspaper.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=33_52&products_id=23 ). I thought that it would look so pretty and unique to have a full table of this when guests walked in. if i could some how find cheap enough glasses that didnt look or feel chincy and have that as the place card table and use as a favor at the same time. Does anyone have any recommendations?
My main question is ... do you have to give a wine glass to each individual person or can you give 1 per couple?
What are your thoughts on this idea for a favor?
Do you have any other ideas for any truely unique wedding favors? Or even another way i can use those place cards maybe on something other than a wine glass?
Im not really into the edible favor thing because there is going to be SOOO much food at the wedding!

Ditto McKenna. Even if each couple gets two wine glasses, most people don't want a random set of drinkware that matches nothing else in their home. Basically, you'll go to a lot of work to create something that will end up collecting dust or in the trash.

The reason that I, and others, advocate edible favors is that people will enjoy them. Almost all other types of favors will get stuffed in a drawer, left behind, or thrown away immediately after the reception. If you choose to do favors, something edible really is your best option. Also, since the favors are intended to be taken with the guests, the amount of food at the reception shouldn't be a huge factor.

i've seen these and think they're really cute. i was thinking about using the butterfly version for placecards at the tables but i wouldn't use them as favors. like yourself i thought they would look really pretty on the tables and be different take on placecards. we were thinking about having chocolate favors.

you could use the wine glasses with the dragonflies and address them to 'mr and mrs' so that they understand that its one per couple.

orrrr use the dragonflies on mason jars, small votives, tiny flowerpots, etc.  =)

Ditto PP regarding edible favors.  However, this is another idea that I really love: http://www.casasugar.com/DIY-Wine-Cork-Placecard-Holders-1628653
As long as you can handle drinking a lot of wine between now and the wedding, the corks are free.  And even if nobody wants to take them home, which they probably won't, at least they were free.  Not really a favor, mind you, but a cute and creative placecard holder!

I did hand painted wine glasses as my favors (painted them myself), one per person. Each and every one was different. There were 5 left over, five people didn't show who had RSVP'd

Thank you all so much for your input!!! I was leaning towards finding another favor, maybe a candle that is neutral. I'm still not feeling the edible favor i feel like its been over done. I would like something more unique even tho candles arent that unique its a little different and there are so many to choose from.
I am thinking of doing the same place card idea but seeing if the wedding hall can put glasses out filled with a mixed drink so that i still have the same thing as i invisioned they just wont take them home as the wedding favor.
MGIETLER76 - OMG! IMPRESSIVE!! I wish i could do that! I am not even the slightest bit artistic and i would need over 100 just for 1 per couple. Great job tho!!!
Thanks again! You all ROCK! :)
