It would be a helluvalot easier just to leave everything up for next year but I am not going to be THAT person! We are looking into cable/satellite providers. We have time warner, good cable and what not, and we have the basic package for cable and wireless. It's really decent priced, however...if you EVER have to call them, prepare to set aside about 1 1/2 of your time.

Also i agree :) FI bought me an ipad when i had my wisdoms taken out, i'm still obsessed with that damn thing lol

I have AT&T Uverse. I don't know how basic they get, since I have a movie-channel package, but I ditched TWC so quick once AT&T was available in my area. I had bad experiences with TWC customer service.

I have AT&T Uverse too.  It's not the cheapest..but you can get like $300 in rebates just for signing up and there isn't a contract or anything.  I think we got $250 when we signed up a year ago... it wasn't a scam.

We only have Direct TV because DH says they have the best quality of HD and the most channels...but if you just want basic and cheap then I think Time Warner was the cheapest one. I never had any problems with them (I also really liked that TWC had on demand fitness shows and I used to watch them and work out at home haha)

i have their phone number, seriously on speed dial because our apt has bad electric outages. EVERYTIME i call, it seems like i'm talking to an idiot. And the problem is that i know how to fix it. But they won't listen and waste 45 minutes of my time. I get pissed everytime i have to pick up the phone with them. And if we had another option for TV, we probably wouldn't have them. They're services are great, for tv and wireless and what not...prices...pretty good...customer service, worst ever

[QUOTE]I'm stressed because I was finally offered a full time job after a year of temping, but its 100% commission based and no benefits. So do I wait for something else? Plus side: work from home, set my own hours, design based (which is what my degree is in) Down Side: commission only so how will I pay bills at first, no insurance...still, not recession proof I just don't want to start my marriage without me being able to help out financially.

I've done commission only before. That's what brought me back to DFW. It's great during peak times, but after that, I had NO money. Parents convinced me to move back to DFW to find better jobs....to this day still looking. I will never do commission again. Plus no insurance?! You never know when you will need it. However if your FI/DH has great insurance, you may can get on his.

Chelsea that sucks about your car.  I had that happen (lady was totally out of it and drifted into my lane and ran up along side my car, but said it wasn't her fault) but ended up not doing anything since I had very little (almost nothing) and her damage was major.  Karma will catch back up with her!

On the cable - I had Time Warner and it was ok, but I was really upset when they pretty much lied to me about my DVR.  I was in the same apartment complex as my friend who had a duel tuner and I had single (couldn't watch one channel and record something on another).  The customer rep said it was because of my zip code that I couldn't get the other.  Really?  I left them for Verizon Fios since our new apartment was pre-wired for it.

Tiffany - I'll be watching the game.  I'll be sad to see the football season go :(

The bridesmaids dresses for our wedding are in, so I'm excited to go and pick them up tomorrow!

Haha - I'm somewhat of a TCU fan.  Not enough to be hard core, but enough to be happy for them that they are finally getting the publicity that they deserve.  They are a great football team.  I will not be cheering for Wisconsin.

We have Verizon Fios and I love it.  It doesn't break the bank and so far they have been wonderful and easy to work with.

We have digital cable with TWC which is more channels plus we have internet for like 115.00 a month. We split everything so it's even.

Internet here isn't bad at all. TV channels go out every once in a while. Someone mentioned to be prepared and wait if you call....call at wierd times of the day. I call early early in the am or like at midnight. Get through super fast.

Now I can take what would have been those monthly payments and put them towards the wedding. Oh and FI IMed me this morning to let me know his leave was pushed back a couple of days, which is actually better for us cause he lands in Dallas about 6 hours prior to me returning from my meetings in CA.

Tiffany- I hope it all works out with the house!

Bobbileigh- Target has tons of chargers 1/2 off because of christmas. You could try to spray paint them to see if it would work before you invested heavily into the project.

Chels- Ugh! when did this happen :(

Today is sooo much better than yesterday.  Yesterday I called 20 potential candidates and only scheduled 4 interviews.  Today I have called 10 and scheduled 5 so I will call it making up for yesterdays stack of duds.  On my way home yesterday I seriously sang Carrie Underwood at the top of my lungs and felt soo much better by the time I got home.

Chelsea - that stinks!  I just love the moms that act crazy in front of their kids.

Mckem - I'm right there with you.  I have accomplished nothing!!!  My planner is trying to keep me on track but we (mainly FI) can't even agree on a location.

My SA - hurry up Friday!  I'm sick of being here and the chick in the next office with SARS is killing me.  Seriously, stay at home if you are sick.  I'm not interested in seeing you cough up a lung.

We have Verizon Fios, and it is also kinda pricy. We have a lot of channels, DVR's and extra boxes so that probably makes a huge difference. I used to sell AT&T U-Verse, and the packages are pretty decent if you don't need a bunch of channels. Like Tiffany said, they have really good rebate offers, cash back deals, free month of TV, discounts if you bundle with internet service, etc. etc. If you have a bunch of HD TV's and you require HD service, that is where they really rape you. The DVR in every room function is really awesome, we also have that with our Verizon. Depending on your apartment complex/City you will have the choice of either AT&T fiber optics OR Verizon, but you wouldn't be able to choose which you would want which kinda sucks.
Dish network is crazy cheap for America's Top 100 package, I think it is a better deal than DirecTv (who I detest after a rotten experience).

For you thinking about Cable.  I work for TWC, however I have nothing to do with residential services.  I will give you a bit of info though.  They are running a good deal right now for phone, TV and internet for $99.  They run that every few months, so if you miss it, just wait and it will be back.  Their customer service does suck.  It used to be that you had to wait forever to even talk to someone, then when they got on the phone, they knew nothing.  Then to send a tech out, it was like a week.  Now, you can get through to someone almost instantly, they still know nothing, but they can dispatch someone w/in a day (sometimes even that day.)  So at least it is improving.

As for the dual/single tuner.  They went through a conversion 2-4 years ago (I can't remember) to get all areas off of the A/B cable (reason for not being able to use a dual tuner). So if it was during that time, maybe their records weren't updated.  Everyone should be able to use dual tuner DVR's now.

Cable should always have a better picture over satellite due to the compression rates.  However, I've good things about the fiber services (FIOS and U-VERSE) but have never used them.  They should have excellent quality.  But the difference probably isn't to extreme, so decisions should be based on price and channels offered.

    Hope that helps.

Congratulations! Is your current boss going to be caught off guard or is this something that you've been gearing up for? I know two jobs ago they acted SHOCKED that I would leave them for another company, despite how unhappy they all knew I was but my job in between that one and this one, they expected it...

    On another note, I think we need another G2G. <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-sealed.gif" border="0" alt="Sealed" title="Sealed" />
