Bridal shower?

I have a very small idea of what these consist of and am going to be planning one with a few other people, who also don't really know, for my sister and was wondering if you guys could break if down it to parts for me?Thanks in advance :)

    Those sound fun :) Really like the purse one.
    So the whole thing is like a tea party/visit where the bride can recive some gifts before the wedding from the people invited to the shower and get a head start on writing thank you notes and have a few hours of fun and decompress a bit?
    Evey book and artical I have read asumes the person reading has a basic idea of what they are lol and I feel so lost. And because its for my sister I want it to go really well.
    ( I have never been to a shower, always have to work or am not able to travel for them lol )
