We got FI's birth certificate back and properly authenticated! Because Foreign Affairs Canada sucks we bascially almost lost the ability to get a marriage licence in Ireland but hallelujah! the screw up has been fixed. What makes this check especially big is the fact that the wait time to get a certificate of authentication is supposed to be 7 weeks and we got it back in 1 week, thanks to the complaint letter I sent (wondering how any human being can screw up stamping a certificate for a living). They also sent along a business card for a high ranking official should we wish to take the complaint any further (which we won't,we got what we wanted and everything is sorted out now). WOOHOO!
