DId your FI/DH pick out your ring by himself or did he get help? I wanted my grandmother's ring so, no, he didn't pick it himself.

Is there anything you would change about your ring? Not one blessed thing except that I want the  engravings put back in the band that were removed when the band got more gold.  I'll do it by the wedding.

How was your thanksgiving? Were there problems?  Thanksgiving was fine.  My baby cousin didn't like being held by anyone and cried a lot.  It was kinda funny, actually.

Did you shop on black friday?  HELL. NO.

DH introduced me to a jeweler he had used in the past, gave the jeweler a budget and told me to design my ring.  His reason for doing it this way was because it's a ring I'll wear for the rest of my life and he wanted it to be exactly what I wanted.

Is there anything you would change about your ring?
Not a thing.  It's a cushion cut three stone ring with a center Royal blue sapphire.  Now that Sapphire rings are becoming popular again thanks to Kate Middleton he loves telling people that I've always been ahead of the fashion curve.

How was your thanksgiving? Were there problems?
DH and I had a newlywed T-giving.  We stayed home, made a full turkey dinner and have been eating leftovers ever since.

Did you shop on black friday?
No deal is good enough to make me go shopping that day.

He picked it out on his own, but he did ask for some hints. One of DH's good friends picked out a ring without any "help" and the girl totally hated it (She never asked for a different one, but everybody knew she didn't like it, and she pretty much stopped wearing it the day after the wedding). DH didn't want that to happen, so he started asking little questions here and there to get ideas. He did good, I completely adore my ring.

Is there anything you would change about your ring?
The only thing I would change is I'd have it set in platinum instead of white gold. And that's only because I don't like having to send it out to get re-dipped twice a year. But to be honest, I really didn't know that was going to be a problem in the first place, I'm actually the one that "requested" white gold.

How was your thanksgiving? Were there problems?
It was good. My crazy bitch aunt didn't show up. No real "problems".

Did you shop on black friday?
I stayed home, slept until 11am, watched cartoons in my pjs and ate leftover cheesecake on Black Friday. It was glorious.

He took my mom with him ring shopping, just because she knows way more about jewelry than any one person should, but he picked it out. He did a great job. We did discuss peripherally what I like in a ring, what I don't, and he definitely listened when he picked out my engagement ring. 

Is there anything you would change about your ring? I think I probably would have picked a colored stone, but I love my ring as is, so I would be hard pressed to really change anything about it.

How was your thanksgiving? Were there problems?It was awesome. Everything turned out delicious (even Helga the turkey), and the only thing that really gave me problems was a chocolate pie I made. Stupid finicky meringue.

Did you shop on black friday? Nope. I wrapped Christmas presents and spent some time with H and the Playstation 3. But I did root my best friend on via text message as she braved the crowds for $12 seasons of True Blood.

Is there anything you would change about your ring? I would have it sit flush with my wedding band...my e-ring has sort of a fancy, soldered band, and it doesn't sit flush.  But that's fine.

How was your thanksgiving? Were there problems? It was okay.  There were way too many people.  It was very crowded at my parents' house and I wasn't thrilled with that.

Did you shop on black friday? Nope.  I didn't even leave my house until the evening.

How was your thanksgiving? Were there problems? Surprisingly good. Food turned out great, everyone showed up (FFIL actually showed, which was a surprise that left us one seat short...but DD just sat on my dad's lap to eat haha)
Did you shop on black friday? Not in the morning...we went after FI got home from work which sort of ticked me off...there were things I wanted to get that were obviously out by the time we got there at like 5...

He sent me links to a couple he was looking at to make sure he was on the right track, got a little further input from me about my jewelry style preferences (one that he'd almost settled on was NMS while the rest were awesome) and ended up choosing one he hadn't shown me that had a couple elements that were similar to my favorite everyday ring.

Is there anything you would change about your ring? Nope, I just wish it had been easier to find a wedding band that I liked with it.  Everything was either too bulky or too blingy for me.

How was your thanksgiving? Were there problems? It was great.  There was the problem that no one got to eat enough mashed potatoes because we were still stuffed from the hors d'oeuvres.

Did you shop on black friday? Online only and DH almost finished his shopping that day.  Although I wish I had started at midnight instead of in the afternoon before Walmart's $10 video games were out of stock.

Did your FI/DH pick out your ring by himself or did he get help? He picked it out all on his own.  He had asked me a couple of questions, like what cut I liked, but other than that, he did it all himself.  He went by himself.

Is there anything you would change about your ring? Absolutely nothing.  It's perfect.

How was your thanksgiving? Were there problems? It was really good!  No problems.  We deep fried our turkey and managed not to set the garage on fire, so all good there!

Did you shop on black friday? Of course!  I had a good time.

DId your FI/DH pick out your ring by himself or did he get help? We bought it together, but he would have done fine on his own. Diamonds are just WAY cheaper in the US, and he couldn't get to a store without me, so rather than pay 6x the price in Chile he told me, and we went together.

Is there anything you would change about your ring? I don't know if in the future - like for a 10th anniversary or something big - I might get a bigger ring since presumably in the future we will have more money. That said, I wouldn't alter the ring I currently have.

How was your thanksgiving? Were there problems? Great! We celebrated yesterday, no problems.

Nope.  It's pretty perfect.

Everything went pretty smoothly.  I tried a new pumpkin bites recipe that's low in calories and just a trace amount of fat.  The pumpkin part was good but the crust was lacking.

I went to the mall but didn't purchase anything.  I guess I just wasn't in the mood to shop.

How was your thanksgiving? Were there problems? It was okay, but definitely not the same without being able to go home. We have very few friends here, and the one of the ones we do have invited us over to their house for Thanksgiving. It was nice and relaxing and easy on me, but we both felt like something was missing, kwim?

Did you shop on black friday? Heck no. After working 2 jobs in retail through college, I have had enough of that madness. A guy even got stabbed not too far from us trying to prevent another guy from shoplifting a bunch of stuff at a Best Buy store. Thankfully, he is going to be okay and they caught the shoplifter.

DId your FI/DH pick out your ring by himself or did he get help? He picked it out himself.  He jokes that he nearly gave himself pinkeye looking through all the loops at so many diamonds.

How was your thanksgiving? It was great, actually!  We went to my aunt's house in the morning for brunch, and it was more fun than usual.  Then we went to my parents' place for "dinner" in the afternoon, with my sis & BIL, nephew, and my BIL's parents & brother.  Also more fun than usual, and we had a great time.

Were there problems? Oddly, not a single one.

Did you shop on black friday? Just at AC Moore.  I realized I needed some embroidery floss for these stuffed bunnies I'm making for my nephews, and came home with the floss, wrapping paper, 5 t-shirts, and some beads.

It's cyber monday, so get some good deals!!!  I went to Michael's - got more wrapping paper, hemp twine, elastic, heat-sticky-sheet-thingies for using appliqués on quilts, and some glue tape stuff.

Is there anything you would change about your ring? I didn't know about the white gold re-dipping thing.  I've had the ring a year and a half and it's getting gold-ish.
