What is the usual order of events for the reception?
introductions, hora, challah blessing, dinner, speeches?

The order will vary from wedding to wedding; there is no one RIGHT way.

I did it this way:  intros, first dance, challah blessing, speeches/toasts, dinner, hora.

We did our intro/entry right into first dance into hora then kiddush, challah blessing, my side toast, dinner, DH's side toast then speeches

We did: intro, first dance, hora, motzi, welcome speech/toast, meal, parent dances, more open dancing.  Our ceremony started at 1, though, so it was a daytime wedding.

    first dance
    hora
    toasts
    first course
    father/daughter and mother/son dances
    open dancing

    open dancing
thank you speech from bride and groom which went right into crowing of mothers which went right into cake cutting
cake served and people continued to dance
    dancing till end
