So how does it work to get your make up done? If you buy something is it free?
I would like to have my make-up done for our e-pics but I also would like to amke and appointment, how do I do that?

Also, any reccomendations for MAC counter at Alderwood- it will be a Sunday.

Also, how long will it take? And how long will the make up last/ look fresh? I have never had my make up done before.

You can make an appt at Mac to get your makeup done, just call and ask for one. You generally just have to buy a few products, they'll tell you on the phone...at the Macs nearest me, one has a three-product minimum and the other is four. (If you want lashes, they do count as a product.) You don't have to buy what they put on you if you don't want to, the purchases can just be stuff you need. I always get my makeup done at counters when I need to buy new makeup anyway. =) It should pretty much last all day, just need to reapply your lip stick/gloss. Obviously also depends on your skin/the makeup artist, too.

i've been to the one at southcenter and it was free. i didn't need to buy anything. it takes an hour.. they have to help people as they come up, ring them up for what they are purchasing but it takes an hour. I think it lasts all day.. like pp said, you have to reapply lip gloss.

i had them do my makeup for my epics

I had them do my makeup for e-pics as well... They told me I did not need to buy anything.... Even when I was trying to she kept telling me not to buy it unless I really wanted it!

    They did a great job

Oh maybe it varies by counter then--sorry if I gave misinformation! The ones I've been to were in Macy's and Bloomie's.

I have had my makeup done at the MAC counter in Lynnwood before. I don't think they charge on Sundays (they do on Saturdays I know, but it goes towards product). I know the Bellevue Nordstrom one doesn't charge on Sundays, but that was in October. It is generally good ediquette to buy something though. It takes about 30 to 45 mintues and what they do will stay fresh for at least four hours, longer if you tell them that is what you are looking for.

Yeah, the girls at the Northgate Mac said to just make an appt since that's the only way the could guarantee a time. But she said you really don't have to buy anything, although I usually do because a) I like the products and b) I do feel a little weird not buying anything.

When I worked at Alderwood Nordie's the counter manager was Katie...or Kate, something like that. She is totally awesome and great at make-up but I haven't been there for a little while so I'm not sure she is still there.
I love MAC but I would also suggest checking our the Bobbie Brown counter. She's all about the natural look, so if you don't often wear make-up or wear very little, it may be a good fit for you.

I LOVE Bobbi Brown and their products. I'm actually kinda anti-MAC myself.

Yea, even if you don't have to buy something, I would.  At least one or two items just because they spend a good bit of time in doing your makeup, and frankly I always either need something (hello, mascara) or find something I like (lip gloss!).

Thanks for all the information. Now I don't feel like I'm walking into it blind. That will be fun!
