Wedding Woes

family ties: keaton 'n' son

so alex has been looking for a part time job.  he's been rejected from all the banks, so his father offers him a job at the pbs station, where steven in the manager.  alex really doesn't want to, but when his last opportunity turns him down, he takes it.

steven works with roz from night court, and some other old white dude.  he also works with some other incompetent boob.  incompetent boob totally drops the ball on a documentary he is producing, and instead of firing him out of a cannon and into the sun, steven and alex work on it all night.

while they are working, alex grows to respect his father and his work.  at one point, steven steps out, and roz from night court tells him how much steven is respected around the office.  (duh, he's the manager, and no one tells a kid, "your dad blows").   alex and steven finish the documentary together.

sometime earlier, alex is told by a bank that they would like him to work there, and he writes a letter of resignation to his dad.  his dad puts it aside and doesn't read it until the end, where he tells alex that his father wanted steven to come into the family business, dry cleaning.  (is this what ohio did in the mid-80s?  i know for a FACT that there were korean people in ohio during that time, so i call bs on the keatons being dry cleaners.)

steven says that it's okay that alex wants to work in banking, and that he doesn't have to be a pbs production assistant anymore.  they hug and have granola together (<-- actually happened).

in other news, elyse is still pregnant and having hiLARious cravings.  mallory and jennifer suggest names for the baby, such as johnny, ed and doc.
