How to find a licensed bartender?

My fiance and I are getting married at the summer camp where we first met and fell in love.  We have someone to do all the food for us.  Now I just need someone to provide and serve the alcohol and I have no idea where to even start looking.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Re: How to find a licensed bartender?

  • Talk to your caterer.  They probably have someone on staff or someone they've worked with before.  Also, put a post on craigslist.
  • We aren't using a caterer, but I will try posting it on craigslist. Thanks!

  • Is your wedding in NYS? Currently NYS does not have any laws that require a bartender to have a license to serve alcohol. You only need to be 18-years-old. I know this because I managed a bar and bartended my way through college. It wouldn't hurt to visit some restaurants/bars near your site and scope out some bartenders that know what they're doing/have a good personality. You can see if they would be interested in working the wedding for you.
