Engagement party location?

Hey everyone!

I was just wondering if anyone has any good ideas for an inexpensive place to have our engagement party. My friend is throwing it and I think my mom is paying for a lot of it so we are trying to think of a good place.  Our apartment definitely won't work and my mom lives out of state.  I feel bad asking a family member if we can have it at their house so we would love any ideas for an inexpensive option.

What about a local park for a cookout kind of thing?

I was going to suggest a park too - some community centers are pretty inexpensive to rent and come with kitchens.  You could bring in your own food or do a bbq.

or depending on how big it is - a restaurant would work too.

Not sure how far north you are, but a friend of mine just had her Engagement Party at El Torito in Rohnert Park. There was about 20 of us, and her parents just had pitchers of Margarita's and some sampler platters sent out. Anything that any of the guest wanted they paid for.. It was a lot of fun, and I don't think it was too expensive.
