New bride looking for reception vendors

I just got engaged and we're aiming for a fall wedding, so the hunt is on for an affordable vendor in the DC/Northern Virginia area. We are hoping for a venue for 150 people at no more than $15,000 including the food/alcohol. If anyone has suggestions I'm all ears!

Our reception is at the Holiday Inn in Gaithersburg.  We picked the middle package and we're having about 100 people at a cost of approximately $8200.  This includes food, full open bar, a suite for the bride & groom the night of the wedding, and breakfast for us the next day.  It looks like there's a Holiday Inn in Springfield that hosts wedding receptions, but I can't find their packages online.  In comparison to other hotel venues, this has been the best value by far!

Edit: It looks like the Gaithersburg location has increased their prices, but it's still a lot lower cost than other hotels we looked at the Gaithersburg/Silver Spring area.

The Atrium at Treetops in MD may work for you.  The facility holds 150 for seated dinners and 200 cocktail style.  They offer all inclusive wedding packages that includes what you are looking for.  It's one of those unusual spaces in that it is located in an industrial area but the ceremony/reception space is amazing with marble floors and an open skylit ceiling.  I chose the space for my wedding event because it is very unusual and I am able to do what I want with the rental space.  I took pics when I went to visit the space.  So if you want to see some the raw photos send me a PM.  Also check out the site for more pics and info.

    Love is the ultimate superpower.
It can make you weak and strong simultaneously.

  • Are you looking for an all-inclusive thing (venue, food, and drinks all in one) or are you interested in having the venue and the caterer be seperate companies? How far from DC proper are you interested in traveling? Is there a certain look/feel that you are going for (e.g. rustic shabby chic, vintage glam, clean and modern, etc.)? Just asking so we can get a better sense of what you want.

Have you looked at any of the local wedding blogs like District Wedding, Bayside Bride, Capitol Romance, Ritzy Bee, or United With Love? They all feature weddings exclusively from this area, and they have vendor guides that may be useful, too.

  • We are getting married at the DoubleTree by Hilton Sterling (near Dulles Airport).  Our wedding will be about 140 people and the whole thing will cost $15k so if you have 15 to spend on food and alcohol you'll be more than okay.  They have all-inclusive packages which has saved me a lot of headaches already (I am planning the wedding from FL though).
  • Do u need the venue to provide the food and / or the budget of 15 k to include venue and food & bev?
  • Check Palomar in Rosslyn. I'm having my wedding there in September and they have packages. The restaurant won't hold over 100 but I think their ballroom accomodates more! Congrats!
