guest transportation

i would like to provide transportation for my out-of-town guests from the hotel (midtown) to my wedding (near emory). the hotel does not provide a bus or shuttle service. it would probably be 50+ people who would need transportation. does anyone have any suggestions for a van, bus, shuttle, or trolley company that they have worked with? thanks!

Have not tried him, but I have seen posts for The Trolley Guy.

This is uncanny! I came on here to post regarding the same thing!
How far is Emory from midtown? What hotel did you block? I'm looking at hotels in Midtown, too.

I'm not from ATL, I'm from Boston where cabs reign, and the majority of our guests will be from cab-friendly areas. How's the cab situation in Midtown?

@ maggiebaggie - Cabs in downtown Atlanta are far and few in between, they are not prevalent and always available like in other cities. I would highly recommend you contract with a transportation service to avoid a big mess.

In regards to the original question, I don't know of any that I could recommend, but as an out of towner in other weddings I have experienced firsthand the problem of the provided transportation being too small (ie a 10 person van when there are over 50 people). In this case we had to have the hotel call a cab company to send a dozen cabs otherwise we would have missed the wedding because of the time we would have waited for the van to make trips back and forth. Then we had the same problem leaving the reception, we had to queue up 30 minutes in advance to get on the next shuttle... not so hot.

At another out of town wedding the transportation was 2 schoolbuses, which while not sexy got the job done. We did have a pretty good laugh riding in that.

Then at another out of town wedding there was no transportation provided at all, I guess they just assumed everyone would get rental cars or hitch rides with  guests that drove in from nearby cities.

@maggiebaggie the boy is in charge of the hotel--we haven't booked one yet but none of the ones we have contacted offer shuttle service. emory is only a couple of miles from midtown, but traffic can be unpredictable and it is not a straight shot. i don't like it when i have to rent a car at a wedding, so i'm really trying to avoid forcing my guests to!

maggiebaggie  - I'm having my reception @ the W hotel - Midtown, so this is my guest hotel as well. It's in the heart of everything, but there are several hotels in the area. My ceremony is .6 miles away at a church and I intend to book a shuttle that runs 1 hour before and after the event. All guest can't be accommodated by the shuttle - due to the size of my wedding - but driving (or even walking!) is an option too. The W provided me with the following transportation options:
    Greene Classic Limousine
    (404) 875-3866

Thank you so much everyone for the info!!!

The Regency Inn Suites in Midtown offer a free shuttle within a 4 mile radius of the hotel -- but I believe they only have one shuttle.

I would hate for my guests to have to rent cars, especially when the hotel is so close to marta.

So getting a bigger shuttle is better than a shuttle making multiple trips?

    Thanks for the help again!!

in my head, yes, it is better to get a bigger shuttle. i am just worried about the logistics of multiple trips. what if everyone waits for the last scheduled departure to try and get on the shuttle?
