We were in a couples only resort in the Riviera Maya section of Cancun. We had a room at the far end of the resort, which only had 110 rooms, max 220 people, so it was always quiet. We loved the resort because there were no kids, no teens, no college students, no creepy guys trying to score with anything that moves. We were also fairly secluded from the other resorts in the area. The best thing about the resort were the beds on the beach, which you could reserve for the day.
We also had an ocean front room. This was the view from our room.
We also had a very friendly gecko in the room, who I kept asking if he could save me money on my car insurance by swtiching to Geico. I am quite dorky.
We also went to the Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza. It was the main city of the Mayan empire. We found out the world is NOT going to end, their calendar has ended frequently over the past 2000 years, with no bad consequences. The mayans believed that they need to become closer to god when their calendar ended, and they would build another pyramid on top of the existing one.
We had a wonderful time, but it is good to be home!
