We got engaged last April and have decided to get married Jan. 2012. We think we want an engagement party and our parents want to throw a joint party. My fiance and I are really laid back and would like to have a casual, open-house type thing, how formal do the invitations have to be for the party? Plus, a lot of our guest are out-of-town, so many of them won't be able to attend anyway.
