I'm having a really hard time!!!

Finding a place for the ceremony/reception. Some places are too expensive. Others have too many rules some even wont allow enough people...... someone please help and give me ideas of where to look!

What type of venue are you looking for? Something on the water? Location? How many guests? Cost?

Yes, knowing the above things will help. Also, what day of the week? In general, parks & rec locations are going to be very inexpensive. James Island County Park has some great picnic shelters (trust me...go see before you count them out; very cute). I think JICP also has an indoor reception hall.

I you looking for something in Charleston, or are you willing to go out a little ways? My location is in Moncks Corner - it's very reasonably priced and very cute! It's Old Santee Canal Park. It's right off the canal and has a historic plantation house on the property. www.oldsanteecanalpark.com

The inn at middleton is my location. They have a new DOC but I would advised hiring Tracy - the old DOC for the Inn

I am having the same problems!! We're on a tight budget but we don't want to travel that far for our reception. We are getting married either in West Ashley or Johns Island....I was told by quite a few people to look at the county parks (esp James Island County Park) so I'm going to be heading there soon! The Santee Canal Park is beautiful...heard a lot of people talk good about it.

The INN at middleton is reasonable- we are having cocktail hour (fruit, cheese, spinach/artichoke dip), 4 food stations of heavy hors d'oeuvres, and corkage fee for less than $30 a person. I tried to look at the whole picture when deciding what we could afford: location price rental prices food prices bar charges some locations were cheap but had a minimum food/beverage charge that was unreasonable. If you have other Inn questions- just let me know. I am getting married at the Inn on October 11th. kathyrseay at yahoo dot com

Alhambra Hall in Mt. Pleasant is nice.  It's right on the water with a huge space upstairs. We have about 120-150 on our guest list.  Basically the only thing they provide is the space and some tables/chairs.  The good thing is I don't have to worry about a food minimum or using their bar. They're booking for the rest of 2009 and 2010, if you're looking for 2011 you'll have to wait until May to book. It's only $2,000 for Mt. Pleasant residents and $2,500 for everyone else.I'm also getting married on a Sunday (6 months from today!!) and so far nothing is cheaper.  Le sigh.
