My mom is mailing her 1949 wedding dress to me. The fabric is in great condition. Even though she was smaller than I am (I'm size 14/16 and she was probably about 10/12, or maybe an 8), and I'm also about 3 inches taller than her, I am hoping to have the dress "re-made" into something for myself (there's a really big train that can be used as "extra material"). My wedding will be in late April or late May. I live in San Jose CA and work in San Francisco. We are on a tight budget, so I only want to spend about $300-$400 on my dress. Does anyone know of a good seamstress / dressmaker / designer in the bay area who won't charge an arm and a leg? Sure would appreciate any referrals.
