Vendor Reviews

Hi guys!  We got married on 8/7 and just got back home yesterday.  Here's our reviews:

Ceremony/Reception Site: Frazier International History Museum - A+
The Frazier Museum was the most gorgeous, amazing site.  After we saw it for the first time, we were in love.  Sara Bachman was our day-of coordinator, and she was amazing.  She took care of our rehearsal, and on the day of our wedding, she was absolutely wonderful.  Very efficient, very sweet, and kept everything running like clockwork.  Its a bit expensive, but for the price you pay, you really get your money's worth. http://www.fraziermuseum.org/

Cake: Cakes by Joyce (Joyce Milhiser) - A+
Our cake was delicious, gorgeous, and very reasonable. I got so many compliments on the cake, it tastes very homemade (in a good way) and was very moist.  It was delivered on time, and looked just how I pictured it. (812) 945-8480

Florist - Kay Richard - A
Our florist was an absolute professional.  My bouquet was the prettiest bouquet I've ever seen, and my girl's bouquets were perfect.  The flowers for the reception and ceremony were top notch and actually were still pretty a week later.  Again, her prices were very reasonable and she was easy to work with.  (502) 640-1720

DJ - Sounds Unlimited Productions (Matt Rogers, MC) - A
The dance floor was packed all night long, and everyone had the best time.  When we did the Cupid Shuffle, and helped teach the people who had no clue.  Matt has so much energy and personality, and he was on top of EVERYTHING.  I chose SUP because they send you a DJ and an MC on the day of the wedding, so while Matt was helping us get set up and lined up, the DJ would be in charge of the music.  We also got their lighting package, which really kicked the whole thing up a notch.  The pictures we have so far are sooo cool. http://www.supdjs.com/

Photographer - Paper Boat Photography (Tiffany Phillips) - A++++
Speaking of pictures, Tiffany Phillips is the most amazing photographer.  We've only seen a few, but what I've gotten to see was amazing.  Besides creating some beautiful photos, Tiffany is one of the sweetest people you'll ever meet.  She really loves shooting weddings, and bonds with each bride she has.  I can't say enough wonderful things about Tiffany. http://www.paperboatphotography.com/

Ceremony Music - SMT Music - A
Stephen Taylor was top notch.  The ceremony music sounded so gorgeous and he is very knowledgeable about wedding music and choices.  My uncle, who sang at our wedding, called him up and they were able to pick the songs out (I was pretty useless Smile) without any problems.  He also has a nice listing on his website about what he suggests for each part - mom's entrance, bridesmaids, etc.  It added a very elegant touch to our wedding.

Catering - Masterson's - A+
The food was delicious.  I had people raving to me about their options.  We did a formal sit-down meal, and the servers were so quick with our food and made sure that the head table ate first so we could go visit with everyone.  We had to go with Materson's for the bar at the Frazier, so we picked Masterson's to do everything to make life simpler.  They made sure we always had a drink in hand and really took care of everything. http://www.mastersons.com/  EDIT: I also forgot to mention that they packed up mine and my new hubby's meals for us to eat later without us even asking.  That really stood out for me.

Dress - David's Bridal - A-
I purchased my dress in Lexington, but worked with the Louisville crew a lot.  I prefer the Lexington store, they were friendlier.  The Louisville store wasn't unfriendly, but really didn't seem to pay attention if you needed help and were there without an appointment.  But the selection is good, and it was nice to get a discount on my accessories and my bridesmaid's dresses because we did everything there.

Invitations - Cardinal and Straw - B-
If anything went wrong, it was with our invitation people.  Let me preface everything by saying that our invitations were absolutely gorgeous, our thank you notes are nice, and I loved our fan programs.  However, the service was slow, and getting proofs back was like pulling teeth sometimes.  Its a small operation run out of Lexington and I think that maybe they bite off more than they can chew sometimes.  They were very responsive and quick back in February when we started talking invitations, but once we wanted to get the ball rolling in May, it was hard to get anything moving.  They were also very expensive, but we did get the higher-end invitations.  If we had to do it all over again, I would have looked around more at invitations, but I did like that I could design everything from scratch.  http://www.cardinalandstraw.com/index.html

Transportation - Xtreme Transportation - A+
The limo (which was a surprise!) was on time, and our driver, Gayle, was courteous, and very helpful.  When we had 45 minutes to kill, she just drove us around Louisville.  My girls and I had a blast riding around town together. http://www.xtremetransportation.com/home.html

Chair Covers - Bella Rentals - A
I never worked directly with them, but the chairs were covered when I got to the site.  http://www.louisvilleweddingrentals.com/id8.html

Tuxes - Men's Wearhouse - A
We went with Men's Wearhouse because we had people in Texas, Columbus, Chicago, Lexington and Louisville and our guys could pick up their tux at home, and drop it off at any Men's Wearhouse location.

Whew!  Did I miss anyone?  If you have any questions about who we worked with, or I missed anyone, just let me know!  Our day was absolutely perfect.

Thanks faeriechyld!  Any recommendations for hair and make-up?  Did you have a videographer?

Hair and Makeup - Taunya Sherwood at J. Estelle Salon.  Taunya was amazing to work with and she took my ideas and plans and made it a reality.  She is, however, rather expensive.  My color/cut about 5 weeks before the wedding was $110 and my foil highlights and cut the week before the wedding was $130.  I looked absolutely wonderful and my step-mom wants me to continue using her badly enough that she is willing to subsidize the trips to her.  Taunya also recommended GloMinerals makeup to me, which smoothed me out perfectly and has actually reduced the redness in my skin.

And no, we didn't use a videographer.
