Venues

Hi

So we're in the early stages of planning right now, I know we're getting married in Nov 2011 , we're just trying to find a venue now.  I have a specific venue type in mind now it's just a matter of finding it !!!  I would GREATLY appreciate if anyone could give me ideas or ratings for places!
Looking for ---
Venue with a view
I want walls of glass (to see the view)
Modernish looking
and within one to two hours driving of Brampton
(something along the lines of Atlantis or Spencer's in Burlington)

Thank you SOOOOOO Much

We are booked at the Oakville Harbour Banquet Centre, lots of windows, beautiful view of the lake and great staff.  We also checked out the richmond hill country club, but the guy was terrible to deal with.  There are also a few nice golf courses in ajax/oshawa.  We are having 200+ guests so there were some beautiful venues that were too small for us, if you're under 200 you may have some luck with golf courses.  The website lalap suggested is great, you just need to time to go through it.
    Good luck!

    A few suggestions:
    - Oakville Harbour Banquet & Conference Centre
    - Spencer's
    - Art Gallery of Hamilton
     - Waterfront Centre in Hamilton (a little bit older but a great view of the lake)

Ditto PP about golf courses.  Check out the ClubLink ones, they have good food and service and generally really nice venues.

Someone suggested the Toronto Argonaut Rowing Club as a venue.

    I was told the following:
"I booked mine awhile ago, but it was $1000 to rent, and then $100 for my ceremony.  I think there is a $100 kitchen fee too. Still, $1200 for a water front view is cheap for Toronto!

They have a fully stocked bar, and you bring in your own caterer and other vendors.

The main room has plenty of room. I think it can fit over 100 for a sitdown. I'm only having approx 60-75 though so I'm not 100%"

You can see it here: http://www.argonautrowingclub.com/Content/Facilities%20and%20Rentals/Rooms.asp

I was thinking of Canoe downtown toronto is beautiful and there also a place at the top of the manulife building 51 floors up that was called panorama (might be called that)

My photographer has been putting together a website to track venues. It's new so venues are added each week.  It's www.bluesixcreative.com/torontoweddingvenues and there is a slide thing on the left side and you can click for stuff to pull up venues.

Canoe is awesome... but a bit pricy... but awesome views and food!  to die for.

I had a friend who had her reception at Panorama. Great views and modern, if you have a small guest list!

I'm getting married at the harbour banquet and conference center in oakville and it holds up to 225 people in the large room and has floor to cieling windows.  it is totally beautiful and very reasonably priced with LOTS of options.  check out their website for pictures.
