DIY Help

I start by posting here because you ladies are so much nicer than some on the DIY board... I bought a styrofoam ball and hot pink hydrengas to turn into a pomander for the flower girl to carry.. I can not for the life of my find the directions on how to make one that prompted this whole adventure. Do you think it would be best to pluck the flowers off and use floral pins.. or cut the stem and hot glue the stem into the flower ball???

I googled this for you and came across one set of directions that seemed simple:

From other crafty endeavors I have done it might be best to keep a small stem, add some glue and then push in to the ball..just to make sure it is secure.  Floral pins might not be a bad idea and if you find the pearl ones adds a little to the look.

    HTH!!

Good luck and would love to see pics when you are done!

Oh, I just did 4 large silk carnation poms as part of my CP's this weekend.

I assume you're using silk, yeah?  I originally bought StyroGlue, which was a complete waste!  It says "fast drying" and I did 1 row and after 20 minutes it was still wet.  So, I got my hot glue gun (make sure you put it on LOW setting or it will melt the styrofoam) and left a small part of the stem and stuck them in and it turned out perfect!

The biggest piece of advice that I can give you is to do a row straight across the center (halving the ball).  Then quarter it, and then fill in the 4 quadrants.  This helped me SO much rather than just gluing randomly around.  I hope that made sense!  HTH!

Ummm, I wish I had read this last night.. LoL.. I did use hot glue.. which is working well!!! And they are silk... I however, was not smart enough to do straight lines.. I just randomly started sticking them in.. But ya know, with hydrengas, it works well since the flower heads are randomly there anyways.. If that makes sense.. I'll update my bio when I finish. I didn't have enough to do the bottom..
