July 2012 Weddings

Transportation to the wedding!

Our ceremony/reception site is huge. The chapel is about a mile away from the reception site. SO... We rented an old urban trolley to take people from the reception site (where they will park) to the ceremony site and back! I AM SO STOKED. The pictures will be amazing.

  • That will definitely be really cool!  That is a great idea.
  • yay!!!  That is so exciting!!  I so would have done something like that if we had ours at a different site!!  Our hotel guests get free transportation to & from the venue & hotel
  • Oh, that is so cool! Our ceremony and reception will be in the same venue, but I'm considering arriving in this:

That's awesome! How did you get that deal? I need transportation for my OOTG but I'm not sure how many will be staying at hotels and whether those hotels offer services like that.. especially free lol.

Those are so cool! Is there a history or story to them? Oh and btw, I've been meaning to ask lol, how many languages do most people speak in Belgium? I met a few Belgian guys recently and they speak very good English as well, Spanish that they learned while traveling and another language between themselves. Made me curious, and I thought of you! Lol if you don't mind :)
  • Thanks ladies! I haven't been this excited since I bought my dress!!!

It came with the deal because the venue owns the hotel..there is this Dr. that owns pretty much the whole town haha and he owns the different venues which are a part of the hotel..so if you have your wedding at such hotel you get a shuttle for your guests

<div>Of course I don't mind! Belgium is a bilingual country, a bit like Canada: Dutch and French are the official languages (and German too, but there are only about 40,000 people who have that as a mother tongue). Many people speak both Dutch and French, in varying levels of fluency. </div><div>
</div><div>Most people speak some English, and those under 35 are usually quite good at it, with most of the popular music and tv series being in English and all that. So I'd say that most people have at least good notions of three languages. Apart from those, many people speak some German, although younger people tend to drop the German and opt for Spanish instead. </div><div>
</div><div>As for me, Dutch is my mother tongue, and I think my English is quite good (but you may disagree). I speak some French, but want to improve it, and have notions of German and Spanish.</div><div>
</div><div>Oh, and I don't know if there's a history to the bikes. I just like them :) Sorry for hijacking the thread.</div>

There's no way anyone could disagree about your English! It amazes me that it's not your mother tongue! Thanks for all the info :) And hijacking the thread is probably my fault haha sorry guys!
  • We are doing the same thing! A trolley- it is about 3 miles from the ceremony site to the reception venue, but we will be riding around the town (an old town by a river) and take pictures!!
