Sarasota

Hi everyone...I'm new to this board and wanted to say hi!!! My FI and I got engaged in FL on 10/11/09 and will be having a DW on 11/11/11 in Sarasota at Siesta Key Beach. Since I live in WI and am doing planning from all the way up here...I was wondering if anyone has any advice for hotels near the beach that are good and post ceremony sites for a cocktail/hors d'hourves? I'm looking at the Hyatt Regency and Holiday Inn Siesta Key to hit different price points for my guests. Then as for restaurants I'm looking at Mattison's 41 or Flemings. I don't know what the prices will be for either of the two and am hoping it's doable.
Any tips, pointers would be greatly appreciated!!

I am booking Mattison's for my catering. They have been extremely professional and I keep hearing how great their food is! I am planning a DW too, so I don't know how much more help I can be. But you mentioned a couple of restaurants. I don't know if you are planning any scouting trips, but I highly recommend Cafe Gabbianos. It is Italian and extremely good!! Are you having your wedding at a restaurant? Or just trying to find places to recommend for OOT guests? Or rehearsal dinner? Just curious. Good Luck!!

We (and many of our guests) stayed at the Hyatt Regency downtown for our wedding. Overall I would say it was a pretty positive experience, not the cheapest accommodations in SRQ, but certainly not the most expensive.

I think Flemings is quest expensive, have you checked into Michaels on East? It is quest popular for weddings, not sure about their pricing however.

I'm looking for a place after our ceremony to have a mini reception minus the dj because we'll have that at our AHR. I'm also looking for places for our rehearsal dinner as well. Plus if the weather is bad, I need to make sure that the restaurant can be a back up site. Do you think that Mattison's prices are reasonable???

Is it close to the beach??? I'm trying to keep things somewhat close together as I'll be having guests shuttled via trolley.

It's as close to the beach as Flamings, on the same side of the road LOL.
Actually, anything in Sarasota is close to the beach :o)

I have heard that Michael's on East is very expensive. We didn't even bother looking there. I thought Mattison's was on the higher end, but still doable. I fired a caterer to go with Mattison's, and so relieved I did. The quality is a much higher level!! I did see the room they have at 41 and it was beautiful. Very classy looking. We have a meeting with him this Thursday. I can try to take a few pictures for you.

A friend of ours had their rehearsal dinner at Flemings. I know there was a minimum $ for the room off the side that they used. Our friends didn't reach the minimum and had to purchase bottles of wine to take home to reach the $ amount.

Ruths Chris is similar to Flemings but a little quieter/classier. Closer to the beach (right over the bridge at the corner of 41 and Stickney Pt (right beside the Holiday Inn Express Siesta Key)

    That'd be great!!!!
I spoke with the lady at Flemings today and they wanted a $2500 minimum. That's WAY out of my price range because we're having an AHR and that's what were spending here!!!
I look forward to the pics...either send me a private message or e-mail them to me at fsujen18@hotmail.com put Mattison's in the subject line so I don't delete the

I got married in Sarasota and used Milan Catering. YUM is all I can say. Mattison's quote was not far off Michael's on East BTW.

And I can't say enough about Hotel Indigo. Such a fun, Florida hotel. Our guests LOVED it.

We got married at Selby Gardens. Check out my bio for other vendor recs.
