Hello. I know this has been posted about before, but I haven't seen a definitive answer. Has anyone had a friend or family member become certified through the Universal Life Church, in order to perform their wedding ceremony in New York state? My fiance and I wanted his aunt to perform the ceremony but now I am freaking out that it might not be legal.
I have called the county clerk of the county in which we're getting married, the Secretary of State's Office and the Vital Records Marriage Registration office, and no one has given me a straight answer. One person said she thought that it wasn't legal, and then the other people said to consult an attorney and that they couldn't tell me one way or another. But I don't know any attorneys, and plus I live in Texas right now so I don't know how to find one. Has anyone had any luck with finding the answer to this question? Thank you!!
