Ideas P-L-E-A-S-E! (pip)

O posted on DIY board, but didn't like the responses so hoping you all can help!

Our reception is in an old horse barn, and I'm doing a lot of rustic/vintage stuff. I saw this pic, and wanted to do this for our escort "cards" with name on front and table on back:

So I made these:

Here's where you come in.. I already have all of the tags on, and a lot of names done, but now we decided (because of the timing of everything) to do open seating (except for parents and grandparents). I also already wrote our names and date on the back of all of the actual keys. This was going to double as a favor, along with photobooth photos.

Should I just put a cute saying on the back of the tag letting people know it's open seating? Put a sign on the table that lets people know it's open seating, and put something different on the back of the tag? Other ideas you may have??!

I'd say put open seating on the back of the card so it acts like a escort card....

Personally I hate open seating... I have never seen it go well. There always ends up being people eating along at tables and then other tables over flowing. It gets really uncomfortable for guests.

Since cards like these are meant for escort cards.... why have them if you aren't assigning seats? If you want to designate the table for your parents then I would just put a reserved sign on the table...

hmm... tough one... well... to start, I think the idea is really super cute.

I do have to agree w/ kkzolo... if you are going through the pain of writing names on each one, but not using them as escort cards... I guess it just doesn't really make sense to me.  Seems like extra work.  If you are going to use them as favors, you could always just find something cutesy to write on each one and leave one at each place setting... then put a sign somewhere that lets everyone know it's open seating.

We assigned tables, but not seats... would that be an option for you?  Then you could still use them as escort cards.

Sorry... wish I could be more help.  Hope this helps somehow.

I guess you could always put something on the back like "Thank you for joining us.  Please help yourself to a seat" or something to that effect on the back.  It makes sense...

Well, I put these together months ago, and we JUST decided last week to do open seating instead. That's why I'm having a hard time deciding what to do with them! I guess I will wait and maybe I will have a brilliant idea some day haha

Oh boy... I hope you figure out what you want to do with them... it seems like you put a ton of work/time/effort into it so far... and they look so cute.

I'm sure you'll have a breakthrough... fingers crossed!!!

Can I ask where you are having your reception?? A rustic barn reception might be what I'm looking for!

    Thanks!
