Marriage License

What do you have to do in order to get a marriage license?  Where do you get it?  I live in the Town of Amherst, do I have to go there to get it or can I go to City Hall on my lunch break?  Does the FI have to be there too?

    Yes... you both have to be there.  I was caught off guard when I went because they wanted to know what my surname was going to be.  I thought I could drop one of my midddle name and take my maiden name as my middle name, but you can't do that anymore.  Be prepared for that.
